Nothing, really :) I used to have 4-5 species... but have since sold off or died off. I only have 1 female cacu double/triple red and 1 juv female bitaeniata left.
Thanks aquaticclarity, yeah I was standing in front of that tank for 10min staring at them to see if there's any pairing. Didn't notice any yet... but I'm sure i'll be back few more times to look at them.
apisto-nut, it's in a LFS here in Kingston... so about 3hr east of u :)
BTW, is...
Just saw these in my LFS. They'r labeled as Viejita... but kinda look like the elusive Steel Blue hybrid(?), is it? Sorry for the blurry pics... taken with my cell phone and the tank was pretty dark in the store.
Kinda tempting for me to buy a few, only $6-7@... too bad it looks like all male...
Just acquired these fish for a few weeks. I ended up with 2 males and 3 females, in a 20gallon long tank (30"x12"). Some recent pics:
Their tank setup, mostly with RO/DI water
I just pronounce all these funny names like a Japanese reading englsih.... take each 1 or each 2 alphabet(s) (occasionally 3) and make that a sound lol..... eg bitaeniata = bi-ta-e-ni-a-ta .... yeah it's not correct but it's easy .. and if you read it fast enough most ppl won't notice anyway heh :)
I'm using both oak leaves and almond leaves in my tanks... can't really say if it's successful or not yet tho as I just start stocking the tanks with fish heh
Almond leaves I bought from a fish store for $3.99 a bag...
Oak leaves I picked a big bag from a provicial park back in the fall...
Hi, which country are you from api-mom?
You can try www.mops.ca . This a Canadian site but will ship anywhere in the world.
EDIT oh crap sorry, I just checked the site I mentioned... dont' seem to have that book listed now. I bought my copy from them, so I'm sure they used to have it at...
Woot, finally found out that's wrong!!
It's sorta related to water pressure.
But it's actually the rubber O-ring inside the faucet adpator that is getting a lil loose and moved out of its position and so actual water flow into the R/O filter unit is not much. Hence the drop in output...
Don't think water pressure is a problem, there's just as much water coming from the tap.
Also I should mention, the "waste" water output from the R/O seems to be ok, pretty good flow like normal. But it's just the R/O water output that slowed down to drop-by-drop almost.
Not sure how to...
Not sure what section of the forum this thread should go, but anway...
I have a used R/O unit (4 stages) that I've been using for awhile. Just suddenly it's going really slow.... I let it on overnite and only got 1 bucket (~5G) of R/O water.... normally (even the last time I useda few days...
I have a trio of apisto in a big tank (not other fish yet). Just the last day or so, the male is looking kinda sick.
His mouth (lips) seems to have a little fungus-like stuffs on it, and/or maybe the lips are just a lil swollen?!
And also start to notice his stomach seems to be bigger...
ok I ended up collecting a bunch of (I think is) oak leaves in a campsite. I soaked them in a bucket of tank water and the pH dropped from 7.4+ to 6.3~, so they seems good.
Couple questions tho:
The leaves inside the tank... I guess at the cut-end of the leaves some organic matter is...
A better shot of my wild-caught A.bitaeniata (type this correctly now!! heh) male. He's still pretty young I think?!
