what's an ACA conference? it's nice to have a spawn and the babies are doing well right now.
I think i may stay away from balckworms altogether. I found dragonfly larvae in one of my tanks yesterday... which is very scary. I think that would be the only way it coudl get int here...
thats good to know... the first day the fry looked pretty out of control. last night they looked like they responded to her. but i went out and came home and found them gone altogther!!
i'm hoping she's trained them hide in their flower pot- fingers crossed

Thanks ohr, your post was very well written and your advice helpful. I started with the small water change today and also siphoned the new water into the tank with airhose tubing so as not to stress the babies. I am so amzed at how many fry there are.

good news!! this morning i woke to find my panduro with about 60-70 free swimming fry. all the heartache was worth seeing them swimming around. now do i need to wait a few days before feeding the microworms? i can't see any yolk sac.
also should i do part water changes every day...

my panduro pair appear to have spawned and am wondering how long the eggs will become free swimming fry.
the female started to guard her little pot about 5 days ago and keep in that area mostly. she darts out to check the situation and chases the 3 tetras to the other end of the 2 ft...

since i left the ram pair in the tank by thmeselves they don't seem as interested in each other any more? maybe they need 1 dither fish?
i am thinking i may set up a ram tank at work as i have run out of room at home for the little buggers! :)

thanks for the advice. i have put flat objects and now with only the pair in the tank, I'm hoping they'll spawn on somethign solid.
i've been feeding them live food hoping to condition them for breeding.
i'm also thiking of changing their tank to a unit with a back trickle...

not giving up yet. i'm hoping to give the more likely pair the best chance to get a successful spawn. i use RO water. The hardness is v. low and ph is about 6.5.
i'm not sure how to get the ph lower. (have tried peet moss)
so do u recommend i remove the parents if they sapwn...

i am suspecting they may shoot blanks too. one pairs eggs fungussed quickly. the other pair i have had healthy looking eggs but got eaten.
so i've removed the dubious pair out of the breeding tank and left what i hope will get me the electric and normal blue cross.
thanks Mike. maybe i should keep totally different looking apistos in the same tank. like panduro and agassizii... that way i can tell the females apart.

i was wondering i i had aggassizii and cacatuiodes in the same tank, would they cross breed and hybridize? I'm running out of space and i would like to keep both species in my 4 foot community tank.
The tank is heavily planted with lots of territorial markers for them to stake...
ok now the other electric with a blue female have spawned on the other side of the tank. alas this was on the gravel also so will see how the eggs spare. these look healthier and less fungussy.
i might have to put more rocks for them to lay eggs on.

that interesting my blue femle spawned last week with the smaller though very attractive male. The larger male has a gorgeous purple sheen to his electric blue. they spawned on the black gravel unders a big pile of javea moss. they must have felt safe there.

Gee this is really sad news. she is starting to nibble again after her levamisole treatment and I've tried to entice her with live brine shrimp.
i think if she dies, i might not replace her and just stick with cactuodies/agssizii as i don't have the time to worry/care about such delicate fish...

my female panduro has become listless and lethargic. she hasn't appeared to have eaten over the last 10 days. i am worried. i treated the tanks with praziquantel. she looked a bit better now but still does eat. she hangs around the bottom of teh tank. funny thing is she is bright...
i agree, i don't like the ballons (looks cruel) and the long fins are so so.
I hope i get a proper male to spawn with my GBR. and hope 2 generations down they will come out electric!
alk about addictions... i went to the shop and bought two more. hoping they are female, but likley to be male. they are a alot smaller than the ones i got from another shop. and just to feed this addiction some more I picked up a female agassizii!! :) My partner will divorce if i get another...
