Nice fish you have!!
To breed?? Good variety of food..live foods if available and patience. You tank is nice and they will breed when they are ready, not you are ready!!! lol
Nice cured Red Oak Leaves for sale.
These are all collected well away from highways and Farm polutions.
Well cured and nice shapes. Soak them in the tank or in a container...approx 3 days and place them where ever they will look cool in your tank. I have noticed no tannin problems or...
Also keep in mind the territory requirements. When I was breeding Cacs, I had a trio of one male and 2 females and a pair of Borellis in a 55 gal. The 2 female cacs each claimed a territory of approx 1/3 of the tank at each end. The Borellis were then forced to take the middle of the tank...
Anyone know where I might find some A. trifasciata Guapore RED's ??
They are my second favorite choice to elizabethae reds.
Neither seem available to often in the U.S. that I am able to find.
I've never peeked at the eggs of my apstos, but on several occasions my Inka 50's layed eggs on the side glass of one of my tanks. Those eggs were always a reddish brown color. The area was heavily planted and I had 15 growing out in a 40 gallon long tank. There were sleeper males, but the...
Ted is absolutely correct, and remember it is easier to raise the Ph with tap water than to lower it with RO water. I use a mix of 25% tap to my ro water (however much I'm mixing) but you will need to figure it out with your tap water.
I had the same setup in a 55 gal, plus a trio of Borelli's. Always did well. Could your babes be starving? I always left mulm in the tank around the plants and on occasion would smash up some fish food (very fine), soak it in some tank water and then squirt a bit down around each batch of fry...
Not enough info. Your female seems to be ready but could it be possible that they have spawned and you did not see it? Those bright yellow colors mean something is up....but then she would disappear for spells in guarding her nest. I have found that often males are rejected until she brings...
I tried a trio of CAC's and a trio of Borelli's in a well planted 55. All was good except that the Borelli's never got a chance to breed. The female cacs were always in the breeding mode, and each had it's territories at opposite ends of the tank, which left no room for the Boelli's to spawn...
I purchased an APEC Counter Top R/O system and have been pleased...it produces approx 7 gallons an hour. As I get more tanks, I will go with something larger and faster, but again, the countertop has done the job for me. @ approx $250.00, 2 years ago....prices may have come down a bit.
So far and nice pair of Borelli's would be my pick...from my experience.
Beautiful blue fish and relatively peaceful and calm...even the females.
If you plan on breeding, the fry are very slow growers, but in a community tank, make very good fish food....shame, shame...lol
Ok, I'm ready for a new adventure!
Anyone know where I might be able to get 1 or 2 pairs of nano transvestitus? They seem to be established in GB and Europe but not here in the states.
Hi Philster and welcome.
Your setup is beautiful. Even 2 trios of the right fish will be beatiful. I did very well in a 55 gal with a trio of triple red cacs and a trio of Borellis. As mentioned before...too many females and you open up a war zone for territories. If your intensions are...
