Do Apistos Triple red caucs. to be specific breed while there are fry in the tank?
I have a few fry left over from the previous spawn that are about 5 weeks old and it looks like the female is trying to entice the male again.
I got the fish from chris at amazon tropicals (before he closed up shop) they are beautiful and I have heard good things about him so hopefully they are not genetically weak.

I have a pair of Triple Reds that are roughly 16 months old. They have been together for 10 months and have spawned several times.
reading that they are good parents I left male and female with fry the first several times and the numbers of fry dwindled from 25 or so to nothing inside a week...
i have a pair of triple reds (trio originally) pair formed and the killed the other female.
the first 3x they bred i left mom and dad in and within 2 weeks male ate/killed all fry.
the 4x they bred i removed the male and with in a week or so the fry dwindled to nothing
this was all in a 30...
I made the mistake of going to lfs today. they got in some A. Norberti.
I haven't found a lot of info on this type of apisto. I was wondering how big the males get? one site said 1.9" and another 2.75"
i read that females have a black spot, does it start as a black line and become a spot or...
is it me or do the Peruvian fish in pics on aquabid make the fish look sickly?
has anyone bought any from amazon tropicals?
I picked up a pair of agasizzi fire red this morning from my lfs.
I want all of them. :)
I now have the resources and space for a great deal of fish and tanks.
Aquabid is a disappointment, it is the same fish over and over. My local fish store has a better selection than aquabid.
is there an exporter in Peru? i have a relative who does missionary work in...
my lfs just got some fire reds i have a trio on hold until sunday. i have a 30g long which is 36" if there are more fire reds available can/should i get more than a trio?

Fish Stores that have websites, breeders that may not have websites.
I check aquabid but it seems that it is the same fish everyday (almost) and they are the same fish i can get at my lfs.
at my lfs today i noticed what are undoubtedly apistogramma of some sort. It was labeled as borelli but the body looked more like cacatuoides. the fish were .5 to .75" and there was some blue and yellow colors on dorsal and anal fins and mostly silver every where else there was a horizontal...
long story short. I recently came into a bit of money and decided to use a small portion to buy new fish. I have a well established 30 gallon well planted soon to be very well planted tank.
my question to all, if money was no concern what apisto would you get and where would you get them?
Petsmart (in my arear Westen NY) is having a 25% off tanks with their Petsmart card (free) I was there last night and the prices were pretty good. they had 20 high and 40 gallon breeders.
I didn't buy because I'm hoping for the deal of a lifetime on craigslist. :)
