    Apistogramma viejita

No pressure... but you better breed the heck out of these guys and start their kids circulating! Absolutely stunning in their simplicity.

    Nannostomus beckfordi and apisto fry

From what I understand, Beckfordi are more feisty than other Nannostomus sp. may want to keep an eye on them when fry are present.

    Submitted for your ID Frustration

Unfortunately, its true. I bet we all wish that the vendors/farms out there would love our fish as much as we do. This is actually something that I use to weed out potential vendors. If their attitude re: Viejita/Macmasteri is more of a "well this is what the farm sold them to me as, so...

    Submitted for your ID Frustration

I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Lamboj while he was here for a recent club event and he did say that there were some pretty significant changes coming for Pelvicachromis. The only detail that be mentioned though (understandably) is that a number of the localities of Pv. taeniatus will...

    Submitted for your ID Frustration

If we have found true Viejita, isn't it all for naught if we can't convince the farms to stop calling their Mac strains Viejita, Viejita Gold, Viejita Red Neck, etc?

Ha! My daughter loves Twanda... we end up spending 4 or 5 minutes just standing in the entryway watching her. People think we are wierd. ;P HoT is one of my favorite LFS's... unfortunately one of few left in the area. If you are making the drive again sometime soon, you should check out Go...

Pairs, Harems, or Singles: What method is best?

All are viable strategies... it all depends on the species you are breeding. Each have different levels of aggression. some like having several females available, while some form a strong pair bond. Thats one of the things that makes apistos so fun... each species is a new challenge to learn!

    Help ID this plant!?

The Watts-per-gallon "rule" should be looked at as no more than a very rough guideline to get in the ballpark with. As far as I understand it, WPG tends to assume light spread evenly across the tank. Figuring out whether you are low, medium, or high light depends on so many variables like...

    Help ID this plant!?

Alternanthera reineckii, I think. Pretty plant though! Been eyeballing it for some of my tanks, but think it needs more light than I tend to want to add to my tanks.

VOTE - May 2013 Picture of the Month

Even easier way for android users... when looking at the thread in tapatalk, click the menu button on your phone, and click "more", then "Web View". I just tried this, and for the default android browser, the poll shows up... but I can only see the results side as I already voted.. don't know...

Polls do not show up in tapatalk... at least the version I have on my phone... Maybe add a link in the original post in the thread as a recursive link so that tapatalk users can easily click on it and get the page to open in a normal browser? (Hope that made sense)
