Heiko, I'm wondering if you can help me? I'm planning a trip to Cambodia for the end of the rainy season. I was originally thinking of visiting Thailand again but with the disruptions going on there I decided to go elsewhere. While in Cambodia I want to do some collecting and would like...

    H2O no Q

I don't have a meter to test with. I'm also wondering why the water straight from the tap has high KH and GH and yet the pH is low. When I was living in Saitama Prefecture all the values were low across the board.

    H2O no Q

Notice I said I retested with a different test kit. The old test strips were a month old. I got new ones.

    H2O no Q

I retested the tank water using a different test kit and checked the tapwater. Water straight from the tap has a low pH of 6.0, high GH and KH and no NO2 or NO3. Not sure as to why it has those values but, my crypts love it-seems to be the only plants that will thrive in these tanks. Tank 1...

    H2O no Q

I've been trying to get my big tank's occupants (various Apistogramma and some N anomala) and the tank of Nigerian Reds P taeniatus to breed with no success. I'm wondering if it's a water problem. Parameters are as follows Tank 1 150 x 45 x 45cm pH 6.0 KH 20 GH 8 NO2 1 NO3 10 Tank 2 90 x 45...

    Compatability

Currently the S casuarious are sharing a 90 x 45 x 45cm tank with a pair of P pulcher. Some Java Medaka, Mekong Medaka and Limia perugie are in there to act as dithers and the cichlids mostly seem to leave the each other alone, only taking the occasional swipe at each despite both pairs having...

    Compatability

I've finally got a pair of Steatochromis casuarius and 1 odd male. At least that problem will be soon solved as there is a school of small fry following mom around. I'm thinking of moving them to the big tank that currently has livebearers in it. After remodelling the tank I'd like to add the...

    Apistogramma cacatuoides black

Bought a pair, the dark male and a female. He's looking pretty washed out at the moment, I hope that will change in the near future.

    Apistogramma cacatuoides black

Was thinking about buying the male. A super dark strain would possibly look good-I hope. Anyways this guy and a possible mate for him will have to be my last purchase for the month. I've spent too much on fish this month and will have to make a trip down to the river to collect a couple...

    Apistogramma cacatuoides black

Was in an LFS today just looking and saw this magnificent black fish. Asked what it was and was told it was A cacatuoides. Never seen a fish so dark in my life. I'm seriously considering buying the male but, he's a singleton. I'm wondering if buying a blue morph female and seeing if they will...

    Steatocranus casuarius

I bought a supposed pair from the LFS, turns out they are both male. Unfortunately shipments of these fish to Japan are sporadic and I'd like to get a true pair or several females. Besides Rehoboth are there any reliable sellers that will ship internationally?

    Black Brush Algae

Large tank 120 cm x 45 cm x 45 cm the wood and submersed plants are covered with short tufts of black algae. I have dwarf ancistrus in the tank but they won't touch this stuff. Shrimp and snails are out of the question as the dwarf cichlids-Nannacara anomala and Pelvichromis taeniatus Nigerian...

    Nannocara anomala

Both females have basically staked out different territories that never touch. The one female has a territory that is the entire surface of the wood and is vertical in nature, the other's territory is the bottom of the tank. As the wood only touches the gravel at 3 points in the tank there is...

Help me sort out my tanks :)

Very nice fish. I see David has some on his website. I'd go with either the Ap borelli or panduro in with the Laetacara. The Dicrossus are rather boring IMO.

    Nannacara

A hybrid? New colour morph? Dominant male of my group has more blue to his body when displaying. I haven't noticed any red.

Help me sort out my tanks :)

What's the proper name for the steel blues?

    Nannocara anomala

wakarimashita Eggs have hatched, mom moved the babies to the bottom of the tank. The other female puts in brief appearances for food then disappears back into her hole. Don't know if she has eggs or if they've hatched.

    Nannocara anomala

I stand corrected, one female laid eggs on the glass, the other one has a nest in the wood somewhere.

    Nannocara anomala

I got a bunch of these in trade and put them into my large 120cm x 45cm x45 cm aquarium. I'd like to breed them, they're still a bit small. Tankmates are 2 pairs of dwarf gouramies, 1 pair of B pallafina, 1 pair of P pulcher, a trio of Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi and 4 dwarf ancistrus. Decor...
