    Ap. guacamayo

The one listed as A. apache looks closer to A. papagei, hard to tell any from the photos though. Doesn't help that I really suck at IDing =)

    Camellanus again.

I agree with Rod. When I was breeding rams, I ran into this devilish bug too. Basically, to get rid of it, I did the following: 1. Remove all inhabitants from the original tank into seperate 5g quarantine tanks (bare bottom, sponge filter). 2. Bleach original tank 3. Treat fish with...

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

I was going to look into trying to find this meter locally: http://www.instrumart.com/Product.aspx?ProductID=24866 Hanna HI 98129 pH/temp/EC/TDS meter

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Yea, I'm still interested in getting myself a good multimeter. Right now I just have a TDS meter and pH meter(s!!), plus the usual liquid test kits. As for the hardness, I'm using RO so I've been keeping my tds around ~50.

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Ok, well to update... I'm using a milwakee SMS122 pH meter now (as opposed to the handheld meter I was using). After pulling it out of storage to recalibrate it - it is still dead on. 7 and 4. So, I'm going to go ahead and trust the readings. The readings seem more accurate too: Tap...

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Thank you Darrel. Quite informative ;) This should help me down my road here!

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Not questioning what you are saying, but from my understanding adding an acid to pure RO won't necessarily cause it to crash. I thought it was more like a putty you can mold to whatever pH you want. I mean, adding (for instance) peat with a pH of 6.5 should turn your RO 6.5, but not any...

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

You raise another question that has been on my mind. Since my RO reservoir effectively has no buffering capacity (0 dKH), I was hoping the peat would have a dramatic effect on the pH - alas, not much change. Prior to finishing my fish room, I have had great success in breeding apisto's...

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Thanks for the quick reply Mike. I think your answer was the one I was expecting. Any suggestions on high-quality, decently priced combo meters? As for the co2, I have municipally supplied water - so I agree in that it should be low in co2 content to begin with. I think, perhaps, I was...

    Quick question regarding pH measuring

Hey guys, Just a quick question here. My fish room is setup using sponge filters, and as such, I am battling high pH problems due to the gassing off of co2 from my water. I'm currently trying to lower it via peat, which has worked a little bit...I think... Anyway, my question is regarding...

Female apisto wont eat and has turned pale

Mike, I'm curious as to what type of pipe you use for that. :) Chris

Female apisto wont eat and has turned pale

It seems likely that the male is hounding her, and she can't escape. What size tank are they in and does she have "escape" routes?

    Apisto Papagei

Shouldn't be too much of a problem seperating female rams from female apisto's though. I didn't know you were on these forums knave, nice to see you =)

    Apisto Papagei

Thank you for the reply Mike. I believe my missing fry are due primarily to the male. The female, up until a couple of days ago (I had removed the fry mid last week) was not displaying with the male and I am still catching stragglers (fry) that appear. I've seen them swimming right beside...

    Apisto Papagei

Hey guys, Thought I would introduce myself here. I've been lurking on the forums, scooping up advice as needed as I am quite new at keeping apisto's. Right now the only apisto's I have are a pair of algodon's, or Papagei, that I keep in a planted 20g. I also have two pairs of...
