    Sexing Rams

Ok, I've read a lot of guidelines for sexing Rams and I'm still unsure about whether or not I have a pair. Their colors change so often (still new to their tank) so it's hard to imagine these are the same fish, but I thought this was a female at first... Female? #1 Female? #2 This one sure...

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

Well, I decided on some Rams. I'm not sure what kind of Rams these are. Someone from plantedtank.net went and got them for me from his LFS. I'm hoping they'll decide to parent the fry, should they decide to spawn in the tank. Go here for pictures...

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

Well if it gets overcrowded, I don't have a problem culling fry as Discus food. I just would like to see a small group of 20 or so of these guys grow up to 1" or so in that tank. I have been focusing a lot on Borellii since they were fist mentioned, though. Are there any others that match the...

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

Thank you for pointing that out, Fogel. No wonder I've had a hard time finding info about N. brichardi in the "shelldweller" areas I've been looking. This tank is going to be a very simple aquascape with a few rocks in the middle (covering an overturned clay pot) and glossostigma growing in...

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

I'll have three SAE's in there to keep algae in check, but that's about all I planned for dither fish/cleanup crew. I've never seen those Borelli's locally. Does anyone know where I can get some? They're a pretty fish!

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

I'm setting up a 20g planted tank (55w PC lighting, black silica sand over peat/vermiculite) and I'm contemplating what type of fish to stock it. I'd like to get a pair of fish that will raise their fry. Neolamprologus brichardi come to mind as one of my favorite African Dwarf Shelldwellers...

    GEEN WATER ALGAE

I just got over a bad case of Green Water. I caused it by pruning massive amounts of plants far too quickly and then uprooted and replanting quite a few more. I removed my nutrient eaters and released more nutrients so the green water algae was happy to oblige and show up. I tried the black...

    A.cacatuoides in with rams

At least your local fish store carries them. Mine don't even really know what a Dwarf Cichlid is. I wish I could find a breeder with a few hours of the New Orleans area. I don't want to pay $20 for fish plus $35 for air freight. $55 is a lot of money for fish!

    leaf litter

Do you perform any sort of cleaning or preperation before placing the leaves in the tank? I think I'd like the look of a few oak leaves on the bottom of my planted tank. What sort of Oak? The most common down here in the deep south are Live Oaks, I think.

    A.cacatuoides in with rams

I'd like to know this same thing. Except my tank is a heavily planted 55 gallon tank. There's nothing more frustrating than watching two beautiful fish mercilessly chasing each other around the tank. I hope to keep males of each species.
