    Construction of my fishroom

Looks great so far. I would recomend that when it comes time to place tanks on those racks that you place down a 1/2" shhet of styrofoam between your tanks and the wood. There seems to be a slight amount of uneveness in the planking that you have used. Use of the styrofoam will help level things...

    Shipping Internationally

Each country has their own importing laws as to what is permissable to bring into the country. cold weather countries (i.e. Norway, Canada, Sweeden, etc.) are usually a little less restrictive than others. I would contact the purchaser to inquire with the appropriae departments within his...

    Atlanta convention

Being a person that attends a lot of conventions each year (thus why I don't get to the fish ones :frown: ) I always tell people to book in the host hotel. For one reason you will save on transportation too and from the convention each day. Furthermore when you book in the host hotel you are...

    Apisto Papagei

Hey there Chris, congrats on the fry. My pair don't seem to be remotely interested in each other :( Mind you they are in my tank with the plecos and some Ilyodon furcidens which could be part of the problem... next time I feel like rescaping the tanks I am going to have a serious look at who is...

    Apistogramma Rio Manare?

I bought some Apistos that were identified as Rio Manare. Never heard nor can I find any info about them. Is this even an actual variety of Apisto, or are they misidentified as so many fish are at some fish stores? sorry no pics at the moment as they are a rather shy pair.

Will different apisto species be aggressive towards each other?

I know I have checkerboard cichlids along with some apistos (rio manare?) and the get along fine with each other. As for different species of apistos... no clue as I have never mixed them. On a side note welcome Harry.

An experimental cichlid tank .... your thoughts please !

I would have thought that there could be an issue with interbreeding of the species of Apistos... is that not necessarily true?

    bycatch

Probably not... I work in the non-profit sector in HIV/AIDS and am a member of Toronto Willowdale Aquarium Society only. Never been to any of the auctions... yet. although I do hear KWAS does a great auction every year.

    bycatch

Did you get them at Big Al's down that way, and do you have any pictures of these guys?

    No Corpses

Neither would catch and kill a resting anything. The pleco however might eat a dead fish at the bottom of your tank however as they are oportunistic feeders.

    Hair Algae

With a pleco in the tank you need to be doing weekly water changes vaccumming the substrate. Plecos are major waste producing machines! As for the oto, they should be maintained in groups of a bare minimum of 3. The shrimp you have is a type of fan shrimp I would assume and so therefore not...

    New to the forum.

Ah... okay... they are agressive breeders... now I understand. Thought you were keeping them to use them for fighting as some people have been known to do with certain species of fish...

    Mixing Species

I actually have the same question. I just today bought some double red agazzi's and was looking at the caucatoides (sp?). Curious as to whether or not the females would take to males from another species as I really do not want to cross them. I currently have two tanks but am trying not to...

Believe me I know Harold over there quite well and that is the local store for me, however good to know that his reputation is spreading. I was more looking for a few Canucks on here so that if I am looking for something specific sometime I know where to find them...

Hello all, just joined the forums here and thought I would pop on and say hello. I currently do not have any Apisto's but my 65 gallon tank is ready and waiting for a few pairs of them. Are there any other members from Canada on here (for future reference)?
