Welcome to the forum Vic. Your English seems to be at least good enough to communicate, which ultimately is the purpose of language. Why don't you tell us which species you are keeping?
I use the Sand - All-Purpose, from Quikcrete. A little larger grain than a playsand, and it cleans up better. The plants seem to do quite well in it as well.
One note with any sand, clean, clean and more clean, and when you think you are done, clean a bit more for good measure.
The fishbase list is not exactly accurate at this time. (In my opinion.) It currently includes the shelldwellers, 'Lamprologus' and Lepidiolamprologus fish.
There are about 35 described species, one sp. eseki, and a few c.f.'s at the present time.
There are very few of these that aren't...
Hello all. I am happy to say that I'll be attending the ACA this year.
I'll be arriving at about 8AM on Thursday, and would gladly meet up with some of you. I am not going to the Shedd Tour, and hope to make the Friday meeting.

New Life Spectrum makes quite a few different foods, so we'd need to know which food in particular you are talking about.
If it is the 1mm NLS Cichlid Pellet, it is fine as a staple portion of their diet. Tropheus aren't particularly fond of change though, so don't suddenly change their diet...
At times Neolamprologus brichardi can step spawn.
They'll have a small spawn, and as early as two weeks later, they'll have what really should have been the rest of the first spawn. I've seen that several times myself.
www.pricenetwork.ca is a mostly Ontario based website that has a large number of cichlid breeders posting ads in their Classified section.

You might want to try an ad their, and see if anybody in Ontario has the fish you are looking for.
Fishbase.org states the following Cichlids are found in Gabon.
Cichlidae Chilochromis duponti
Cichlidae Chromidotilapia kingsleyae
Cichlidae Chromidotilapia mamonekenei
Cichlidae Chromidotilapia melaniae
Cichlidae Chromidotilapia mrac

There is only one way to find out isn't there? Try contacting them and see what happens. The worst that happens is they say no, but it is also possible they will say yes. If you don't ask, you'll never know.
Hi Naggur.
Are we referring to Neolamprologus brichardi?
I'm not really sure what it is you are trying to get at with this 2/3 wild, and 1/2 wild. Either a fish is wildcaught, or it isn't. If one of it's parents were wild, technically we "might call" that fish F1, as in one generation...
Hi Jimmy, welcome to the forum.
Cichlids are wonderfully entertaining fish, so you've made an interesting choice. One thing to keep in mind is that even the most passive of cichlids will be territorial by nature. Trying to protect a territory, in order to secure a spawn site.

The brichardi is fairly closely related to the pulcher "daffodil" so almost all of that...
