    buying apistos

I'd most definately be interested as well. I'm about to rebuild the fishroom in the new house (3 years is long enough without a fishroom) and I'd almost take out a second mortgage for another attempt at the adoketa. Just as I got them figured out I had to tear everything down for the move and...

    Teleocichla species

Weird...it does that from time to time for some reason on other forums also. Try copying the link and pasting it into your browser. That always seems to work.

    Teleocichla species

I had about the same experience as Zman. I started with 6 T. monogramma and they quickly thinned themselves down to 4. At 4, they didn't behave too badly. A lot of chasing and blustering, but very little carnage. I kept them warm (90F), in a tank with deep sand, strong current, and several large...

    My A. Bigfoot

Hmmm...don't know why the link isn't working. I've probably turned on/off something I shouldn't have. I'll research... http://www.basementcichlids.com --> New Pics --> there are 3 pictures of apisto frank at the top of the page. Yes, these are from Aq. Lima. I was hoping the fish were as...

    My A. Bigfoot

Those look a lot like the Apisto sp. 'Frank' I had last summer...very easygoing and the softer the water the better the color and finnage. http://www.basementcichlids.com/images/apisto_frank1.jpg

    fish in italy

When I was stationed in Aviano I managed to find a couple nice fish shops in Venice and Pordenone. The one in Pordenone actually had apistos every now and then. I wish I could remember their names. I would think a city the size of Turin or Milan would definately have some decent shops.

    Having Alge Problems? Try these.

The ones Amano uses are Caridinia japonica. They are, by far, the best of the so called algae eating shrimp. I've tried some of the Crystal Red shrimp and other bumble bee types. They will pick at algae, whereas the Amano will totally devour it.

    Guess who...

Personally, out of the 7 ACA coventions I've attended, one of the high points has to be sitting in Neil and Ted's room and listening to Dr. Lamboj talk about his collecting experiences and observations of the behaviors of fish in the wild. How we maintain them in captivity vs. how they manage to...

ACA attendees... whatcha got, whatcha want?

What have I got: 62 empty tanks What do I want: 62 full tanks :) Unfortunately, I won't be doing much, if any, fish shopping at the convention. Just going to talk fish and get my fix until I get everything back up and running later this summer (hopefully). I've also got a Cichlid News...

    Keyholes?

Not a bad choice for ram tankmates. They do well in a ram setup...plants, wood, lower pH. I kept my keyholes in the 6.5 range. They probably would have been a bit happier in the 6.0 neighborhood, but the Cacs would have not been happy with that. They took a while to adjust to a pH under 7...

    Keyholes?

Cleithracara maronii is the Keyhole Cichlid. I had 3 in a 55g with some Agassizii and Cacatouides. They were twice the size of the apistos and twice as shy. After a couple months, they started to show themselves more and more. Eventually taking on an almost angelfish personality, coming to the...

    Pelvicachromis - suitable for 10g?

mm, It can be done, I've managed to do it with a few different taeniatus varieties (I prefer a 15g - 20g when I have one available). A lot of structure it a must. Caves, wood, plants...anything that breaks the tank up and can serve as an escape area. Vigilance is also a must. Keep a close eye...

    Aquabid gets bought!!!!!!

I was wondering about that. It seemed like I was getting a lot of EBay popups everytime I opened an auction on there recently. What else it out there now besides EBay? Did Petbidz ever take off? And I thought I saw something at one time on Fishpost...The sccam artists and bogus buyers/sellers...

    Just checking in

Hi all, It's been a while since I've been around. I've dismantled the fishroom (And the website has went the way of the dinosaur too) in preparation of a move to a new house currently under construction. Hope to be moved in sometime in June. Will be trying like mad to make it to Denver come...

    pancilfish (nannostomus eques)

My experience with the pencifishes - buy 100 and the 40 - 60 that survive the intial die-off will be darn near bullet proof. Every species I've kept seems to have some difficulty acclimating. The weaker fish seem to be very weak and intolerant of any type of change. Whereas the healthier fish of...

What kind of Dwarf for my 20g planted?

Bolivian Rams, Nannacara anomala, or even a nice pair of Dwarf Pike like C. regani would love a planted tank. The Bolivians and Nannacara will start raising their own fry sooner than later. No luck so far with my regani raising their own, but they still look real good cruising through the sword...

    Coconut shells

I've used coconust shells with holes of varying sizes and have noticed if the hole is too big, the current owner will plug it up with substrate, leaves, or anything else they can find. I've got a pair of inca's in a shell now and all I see is their mouths. They come out to eat, go back in, and...

    Apistogramma sp. "Purple"

I believe sp. Purple is the same as sp. Frank just from a different source. Last I saw, Frank was coming from the Aquario Lima guys and Purple was coming from Panduro Bros.
