    Buying A. trifasciata "Guapore"/maciliensis

Hi all I am looking for a trio or 1M 3F harem (or more... I have a 65 gallon just for them!) :) of A. trifasciata Guapore. Are there any sellers / hobbyists that carry/collect this strain? I am in the US (in New York) Thanks! Sandy

Mixing L. araguaiae with A. borellii

So far I have not seen a whole lot of aggression with the araguaia but the fish are sort of young.. about 2 inches. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

Mixing L. araguaiae with A. borellii

Great, I hope I do not have to rehome any. In other news, my hongsloi have decided to breed in a temporary tank that I put them in... great!! :/

Mixing L. araguaiae with A. borellii

Drats... I thought as much. No Borellii in there, then. Do you think I should take out any/some of the Laetacara as well? Thanks for the input.

Mixing L. araguaiae with A. borellii

Hi folks I have a 60 gallon (4ft long) moderate to heavily planted tank with 5 L. araguaiae (1 -1.5 inch, I can't really sex these buggers yet). Is it OK to add 5 A. borellii (2M 3F, also just about same size right now)? Or will it spell disaster eventually? Thank you in advance for your...

Best dwarf cichlids for smaller aquariums?

Another option may be african shell-dwellers (or shellies), but they require hard alkaline water. I have kept Neolamprologus ornatapinnis in a 7G before and they did fine, barring the odd altercation. Apisto's dont do very well in anything under 10G, as Mike points out. Having said that, I...

    Hemichromis Bimaculatus Tankmates

So now I have the following wish list that I need to pick from. 1. Thoracochromis brauschi 2. Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi 3. Konia eisentrauti Are there any recommendations/suggestions/comments?

    Hemichromis Bimaculatus Tankmates

Thanks, Mike, for the suggestion and the interesting anecdote. I think I will steer clear of the jewel cichlids for now. To answer Jeff's question, I am looking for some interesting (spawning is a plus!) behavior that will fit in OK in a "sparsely" populated planted 45g. I kept two...

    Hemichromis Bimaculatus Tankmates

Thanks Jeff and Ted. I'm not so sure I want those crazy H.guttatus (or bimaculatus) anymore! Do you have any suggestions of other westies (and a potential source to get them)? A.nicholsi or Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi or something similar? I dont really like the pelvicachromis or nanochromis...

    Hemichromis Bimaculatus Tankmates

Hi Guys I am planning on getting a pair of H. bimaculatus for my 45 g long tank. I am trying to figure out what else I can put in there as tank-mates that wont get killed. It is going to be planted W.African and I guess I will have to put in lots of bogwood to have plenty of hiding spots...

anybody bringing any dwarf cichlids to the n.e.c

Hey mightymax, I ran into you at Atlantis a couple of weeks ago. My steindachneri spawned and now I have the mother leading around about 25 fry, relatively small spawn. I'll try to make it to the NEC. ~

I am looking for female A. Caetei

I was at Atlantis Fish Hatchery (in Gardiner, NY) last weekend and they had a tank labeled A.Caetei. I couldn't see much inside the dark tank and I am not sure if they were, in fact, anything in caetei-complex. You could always email them and ask about the A. Caetei. ( www.cichlids.net )

    apisto eggs in 86 temp

I would ideally put the temperature at 76-78 F after you are done with your ick treatment. Like Jeff (Aquaticclarity) said, a higher temperature over the first month will give you a skewed sex ratio with mostly males in the spawn, especially at anything above 79F. Good luck.

    apisto eggs in 86 temp

Welcome to the forum. I have apisto steindachneri breeding with my discus, temp at 86F. Shouldnt be a problem, although I think over the longer term this will reduce longetivity of the apistos. Good luck.

Hey Max, I ran into you yesterday at Atlantis. My steindachneri just spawned, the female is bright yellow and she's guarding a cave. Let's hope something good comes out of this! Good talking to you. See you around ~Sandi

Panduro female ate her eggs... why?

Hello Nick: Welcome to the forum. In my (limited) experience, there can be several reasons for the eggs disappearing. 1. What are your water parameters? Are there any other fish in the tank besides the panduro? 2. Did you see any of the eggs turn whitish/fungused? Usually infertile...

D'oh. I thought as much... I got 6, so I'll try to take more pics of the other potential "females". :(

    Apisto ID - Iniridae? Pertensis?

Hey guys I picked up 6 fish labeled "apistogramma sp." from the LFS. They are slender (some of them, the ones I think are males) , high dorsal fin ( on the males, again ), and about <2 inches long. I'm not very good at ID-ing what species they are, could be iniridae, some pertensis...
