Hi, everyone.
After more than a year waiting, I finally got some flagcichlids.
They were sold as Mesonauta insignis. Size is 2,5 to 3 cm (an inch or slightly longer). I got 10.
They were bagged in two bags, saturday afternoon - they where only 'unbagged' and acclimated sunday, some 25-26 hours...
Hi, all.
I'm finally setting up my 1200 L (330 Gal) aquarium.
The substrate is DIY (expanded clay, sintered glass filter medium, broken clay pots, potting soil and activated charcoal); on top of that locally collected coarse and fine gravel.
I am in the landscape creation phase and hope to deal...
Hi all.
I'm planning a large tank for apistos (tetras, cory's and hatchets too).
Outside measurements will be (w d h) 2020x932x720 milimeters - (inside 2000x900x700). That's roughly 79x35.5x27.5 inches. Total volume will be around 1250 litres or 330 US Gallons.
Weights:
Glass: around 250kg...
Hi, all.
I have made some unscientific 'research' and I can't find any real differences between Apistogramma species nijsseni and panduro.
Their type locations and distributoins appears to me to overlap, environmental demands are the similar, behavioural and morphological characteristics also...
Hi, all.
I'm curious about the identification of biotopes, not an individual.
Take, as an example, the River Ucayali ... It's a white water river - am I wrong in my assumption that most of the populations (A. panduro, A. bitaeniata A. Agasizi) identified from that region usually do best in...
Hi, all.
Here are my Apistos.
I'm preparing the setup of a 1300liter (330G) - and my fishies are waiting for their new (and larger) home in a cramped space. But it's overgrown and they seem to get along with good appetite and nice coloration.
It's 3♀ and 2♂.
Substrate is the biological...
Hi, all.
I'm getting ready to set up a large aquarium, mainly to house Apistos and tetras.
I have moved away from Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to a mountainous region in the central part of the country. The mountains are granitic and local spring water has the following characteristics...
Hi, everyone.
A simple question.
Is it possible to de-chlorinate tap water by simple aeration?
Let me elaborate - if normal tap water is put into a big tank and intensely aerated for several days, will the chlorine be chemically altered into a harmless state?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, everybody.
This morning when I shut down the return pumps in the sump to feed, the feeding frenzy was at first glance as usual. Then I noticed two fish were missing - a male and a female agassizi.
They normally stay a little behind and pick up the flakes the other fish miss, almost seems...
