Peter,
How many specimens have you posted pictures of?
It looks to me that you have posted pics of more than one species.
The male with the clear zig-zag markings below the lateral line looks what I thought was juruensis.
The fish in the last pic looks a totally different species to me.
A.trifasciata is the first apisto I successfully bred about 15 years ago.
I have not seen these of any quality for a long time. Your specimen is a beauty.
Gee, my head is in a spin, so many pics, so many apistos.
Some really nice fish you have there. I especially like the pulchra and the abacaxis.
What part of the world are you in?
Those are nice panduros.
The main difference for me in the females is that nijsseni females always show a black spot at the start of the tail, panduro females do not have this.
The big blotch is the middle of the body show in the pic above of nijsseni can often be completely missing, I...
Hi,
When I hit the "species profiles" link http://www.forum.apistogramma.com/profiles_menu_home.html
my browser comes up with a "page cannot be found error"
Is it me?
I struggle to keep Rams alive for very long. Even ones that look really healthy
do not live long for me :frown:
I haven't bought a ram for a long time for this reason.
Along with Apistos, Aphyosemions are quite short lived. I have though, got a pair of A.australe (gold) and A.striatum...
This is the shop:

I just discovered it recently on my way home from the golf club.
Sadly he has none (iniridae) left as I went in to buy some more. He does currently have a really nice pair of Agassizi but no other Apistos today.
He did say though...
Are they wild fish? I would think so. The dealer got them from a wholesaler, I do not think anyone is breeding them in numbers. If they were, I would expect they would have the correct name.
Thanks for the ID, what a great find - I had A.iniridae a long time ago. I must try and get them into a breeding tank. One of my tanks sprung a leak so I need to replace it soon.
They cost £10UK for the pair :) That's about 14Euros or $20US.
Hi All,
I bought these from a nice shop here in Scotland. They were labelled as A.bitaeniata, but they are obviously not that.
I think they are something related to A.iniridae but would like a positive ID. I promised the shop I would let them know what they are when I find out.
The pics...
You have a definite pair in the first pic. Males are blue and have a high dorsal fin. Females stay small and beige, turning yellow in breeding dress.
A.borellii are lovely dwarfs.
