    ID Apistogramma sp. colombia

Hi Zeufel, I think the fish are too small to say for sure. I see signs of male and female. The second photo looks like a male to me, but on the other photo's I think it looks like a female.. How big is this fish? Mark

    Apistogramma sp. Dorsal spot

Hi Mike, I will try to post extra photo's of the young (and their dorsal fins) wenn possible. You have my permission on using the photo's of course. I'm in touch with the other keepers of the species; if they produce f1 with good dorsal finnage I will try to get photo's of them too. Mark

    Apistogramma sp. Dorsal spot

Dear forummembers, Some time ago I posted a thread on what I was thinking a new species. See http://apistogramma.com/forum/index.php?threads/what-can-you-say-about-these.12574/#post-70980 In the months passed the female died and did not produce any new young. The male has lived for the...

Do you know which shop they came from? Mark (NL)

What can you say about these?

Well it's not norberti as the dorsal and caudal fin are different. Close to norberti and probably a new species. As soon as I can say more about the offspring or the origin I will let you know. Mark

What can you say about these?

I am trying to get some extra info on the origin of the fish. The young are still 1,5 cm so they are too small to say. Mark

What can you say about these?

Some extra info: the male has black markings on his chin (see the photo), but not as much as the Blackchin. The female has never had the black markings of the Blackchin. She has a very faint stripe under the lip (horizontal) and thats all. In breeding dress this is completely gone. Greeetings...

What can you say about these?

Hi Mike, rolo and all the others, The fish from this post have been growing (and breeding) and I have made some new pictures. Most of them using a mirror so the markings and fins are better visible. I have heard that the fish come from the Leticia area and they came in together with Kelleri...

What can you say about these?

It is possible because these fish come from the same collectors as the very first Kelleri. I don't know where they have been this time so I can't say more on the collecting locality. The last time there was 1 female I found between the Kelleri that looked like the Jutai new. (with broken lines...

What can you say about these?

Hi Rolo, I see why you say Schwarzkinn, but that's not the correct species; they lack the black markings on the chin and the fish are less elongated as Schwarzkinn or cacatuoides. I have had real Schwarzkinn so I know for sure that's not the species. For me they seem to be a mix of sp. Cruzeiro...

    Apistogramma ID?

The yellow on the tail of the first fish can turn red. It can come with age or by feeding better food (artemia, copepods and other crustacians). But the first fish can also be of bad quality. The fish in the second photo is in normal colours and older (visible by the headshape). Mark

    Apistogramma ID?

No obvious black markings, but it's Apistogramma nijsseni and it is a male. Mark

What can you say about these?

Well, the eggs didn't make it. That's not so strange as it was the first time the fish have spawned and they are still swimming in tap water. The male is still colouring up. I will post a new photo as soon as he is finished and the fins have fully grown. Mark

What can you say about these?

Hi Mike, I think this fish might develop too much differences with norberti to call it the same, but at this age it is hard to see. I will wait for more colours and finshapes to develop and post a new photo here. Thanks for the reply. To be continued Mark

What can you say about these?

Hi all, I have a male and female of this species swimming in my tanks. They are wildcaught from Colombia/Peru and that's all I know about them. The fish both resemble the A. norberti because of the black spot in the end of the dorsal fin, but the male is starting to get (he is still young and...

    A.Kelleri Sexing Juveniles

In this species the males start to show blue spots on the gills very soon. The striping in the tailfin is early too so that you can sex them easily. The moment you see a fish with vertical stipes in the tail, you know it will be a male. The females get the dark ventral fins but the stiping in...

    A. sp algodon / A. sp pebas?

For me 2 species. Female 1 has the double spot, female 2 has the single spot. Male 1 is not very clear (no visible black markings), male 2 is not one of the 3 species. I think: female 1 sp. Roca Eterna (although the spots seem to disappear) male 1 unknown female 2 sp. Nanay or sp. Putumayo...

    A. sp algodon / A. sp pebas?

Hi Mike, Since wenn do you call them sp. Roca Eterna. I always thought there are only two species with a double caudalspot; papagay and pebas (both sold as algodon and other commercial names) Now I understand that the Roca Eterna is an intermediate between the two. I always thought the Roca...

    Apistogramma sp 'Kelleri'

That's a normal male and a normal female so that's not the problem. We have had some pairing problems too so maybe the two do not like each other. It happens with other species too. Mark
