well no matter what kindof animal you keep , variety is always best .... doing your three frozen items and flake food alternation is a good idea. I have heard though of a bad bug that comes with frozen bloodworms called "Super Ich" , its rare but it happens. You can google it to find out more...
no they pretty much chow down on it all , any remaining and the royal and gold nugget plecos eat. The NLS , the apistos sucked it up and spit it out as if they were Brussels sprouts.
well the brine shrimp flakes , earthworm flakes , daphnia flakes and spirulina flakes are all from Zoomed company... you can google it and find it somewhere near you? Yes I mix about 4 different brands of flakes on top of these types of flakes in a container ... it lasts for many many months ...
It looks like a young, possibly submissive male?,.... I have 2.4 group, t his lil guy looks like my two males a few months ago , all my females are more solid yellow. BUT I HAVE been wrong!
I bought a trio of what came in as Apistogramma inconspicua but the dealer said they could be Apistogramma resticulosa. I googled both species and for the novice such as me, they look exactly the same fish. If there a way to tell the difference in the two species? Or possibly if they come in as...
In my experience, apisto's never ate NLS what so ever. Only medium and large cichlids would eat NLS. I feed my a hodgpodg of different flake brands including the new blue flakes ( I forget which company that one is ) and zoo meds brine shrimp , daphnia , earthworm and spirulina flakes ... all...
jaafaman , no I use Ehiem canister filters on all my tanks ... I usually use less than an inch of PFS in each tank .... has worked for me for over two years now.
I was curious if anyone has experience with Apistogramma iniridae husbandry and pictures of their adults . I've read limited literature online. Are these still consider rare ?
Although I've never had this experience * knock on wood * , I've been told a lot of frozen food , ie. blood worms can give your tank a really bad case of ich , even " super ich " which is the uncurable one. I guess I just take my chances.
LFS has 5 very small A. hongsloi , they are almost sexable or at least best guestament. What's the retail market value on this species ? Is this species best kept in harem or pairs ?
Also , what's the difference in A hongsloi and hongsloi 2 ?
thanks for the link , it was very interesting reading ..... Apisto's are truely cool cichlids .... until recently , I always thought they were puny lil fish , BOY was I very wrong !!! Anyways , I'm thining of going back and getting a trio of bitaneiata ( spelling ? ) I have a pair from the same...
I'm wondering if all Apistogramma species are in harems ? I have 2.6 agazzi's , 2.3 alacarina ... I have two other species but they are only in pairs not harems. Most apisto breeders keep their species in harems ?
I ended up going back and getting 1.2 from the same LFS ... I really like this species , not shy at all. Now my group is 2.3 ... should be some good fin flaring in the up coming months . I was told these are WILD from Columbia , although I'm not sure of the locale exactly. Anyone here keep...
I see your little gems are aduts , the ones available local here are adults as well , perhaps these aer WILD ? or maybe a breeder just flooded the market with burnt out adults ?
