    Hello from Las Vegas!!!

Haha yeah truthfully I never witnessed any issues but that's just what they say about rams and I know the feeling. I have a tank of oddballs dunno what to do with em, but can't get rid of em haha. But I used to keep mine about that temp never saw spawning like I did once I separated the two...

    Hello from Las Vegas!!!

Welcome! Quick question what temp ur tank running at? Bolivians prefer 75-78 temps whereas blue rams prefer 80-83. I have kept both In same tank before but one or both will not get optimal temp. What else u keep in your tank any dithers or bottom feeders? Sounds like a cool set up tho.

    Apistogramma bitaeniata

I am looking to have a species only tank for apistogramma bitaeniata. I was just wondering what family they belong too and any other information that might be valueable to know about them specifically. I have a couple species of Apisto's currently(agassizi/baenschi). I was also trying to...

    Advice needed for "new" Tank...

Oh and my three ended up being all males. Which is why I suggest buyin more initially at a young age. Seeing what u have more of and sending them back.

    Advice needed for "new" Tank...

if you get them young you could get like 6-8 and once they start pairing keep four (my thought), you might be able to keep more id wait for more expertise but I had a 36 by 12 and 3 was alright, but u have a much larger surface area because of the extra six inch depth. Depends on how your tank...

    Advice needed for "new" Tank...

Mikrogeophagus ramerezi or apistogramma ramirezi require a lot of sight breaking material (plants, driftwood, w/e), they can be kept with a large variety of fish as long as the fish are of equal or lesser temperament, gold and blue rams (common name) require warmer temperatures and soft water...

    Advice needed for "new" Tank...

What are the dimensions of the tank I am unfamiliar with 58g oceanic sump sizes, when talking surface area. For bottom dwelling dwarf cichlids this is vital to know for stocking purposes.

    1.60m South American biotope

I think this thread was the same reason I finally signed up too, I would look at threads as a guest and contemplated joining then I saw this biotope and was finally convinced.

    Apistogramma baenschi “Inka”

Not to get in the middle of this or anything but, I got 4 apisto baenschi inkas from Dave about 2 weeks ago. Clearly inkas clearly 2m 2f. Just saying, for you, if it happened to be 2 males, it was most likely an honest mistake. Also I was not ripped off on shipping, I believe these money...

    Color morph ID

In regards to the color morph question I have no idea but for decor/plants I personally like dwarf lily plants. They provide a nice mid ground to foreground look along with shooting up lily pads for shade. And as for decor I just got done setting up coconut caves for my Apistos. I think in a...

    being shipped priority...

+1 for Apistodave Received fish from Dave earlier this week, cross country trip no DOA's and so far they are doing great. The Box-a-pistos deal is nicely priced if you have the tank space or some friends. Luckily I had both. Haha.

    Apisto nijsenni and baenschi?

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help.

    My Apistogramma agassizii

Wow that's a really nice looking fish! I saw these guys at a petsmart the other day in new jersey, I was very tempted to buy them but being that it was a petsmart, I was very hesitant, because they are always sick. I also didn't think they could color up so nicely. I am now partially regretting...

    Apisto nijsenni and baenschi?

Thanks guys, Would I run into breeding issues if I were to keep 4 nijsenni's in a 3 foot tank with proper boundaries 2M 2F? Or should I keep just a single pair? This is more of a what would you recommend question, could these guys be too cramped, or would they interfere with breeding of the...

    Apisto nijsenni and baenschi?

Hi everyone, this is my first topic posted on here but I had a couple of questions that I was unable to find answers to. My first question is in a 4 foot 55 gallon tank would I be capable of keeping both a nijsenni(panda) and a baenschi(inka) pair as tank mates? I believe they are close...

Wondering what apisto hybrids people have come accross

my only argument against that statement is in a fish tank there are hardly selective pressures to rule out if that hybrid is truly fit for survival or just a genetic dead end. A hybrid could potentially decrease the fitness of the fish or quality of life. Were some of these hybridizations to...

    Compatibility of Snakeskin Barb?

It's funny you say that because I have always been simply worried about conditions, and conteninental wise I never cared, and now recently i have been attempting to setup a south american only tank and it's caused me to start separating my other tanks by continent in both fish and plant species...

wanting to buy gbr in two weeks or so

You can check eBay or aquabid, there are other sites (just google it) as well but most have minimum amounts for shipping. As for quality fish off those sites good luck. You have a couple weeks though so you can start checking those sites or hope someone here gives you a response. I know a few...

    Can't find leaves? Fake leaves?

Aquabid is also another alternative for Indian almond leaves but I think you got a good price compared to what I have seen on there. Canada is way to cold but if you are climate zones 5-7 (i found mine on a garden website) you can plant your own almond trees. Been considering it lately, if I did...

    Apisto Tankmates?

This being my first post may make me slightly less useful to you then some of the others but in my experience it can depend on size of tank and where the fish tend to locate themselves. For example I have kept furcata rainbows in a 55 gallon tank with breeding rams and because they rarely were...
