My tank is pretty happy with my rams in it, and every month i get a batch of eggs. They used to be eaten as most could fungass due to my hard water, with a high pH to match. So I gradually mkae the water perfect for them. Now none of the eggs fungass- but that don;t stop them being eaten by the...
They should do, but seing as it is thier first spawn, they will learn whilst looking after the fry. You can generally keep them with the parents until they are about 5/6mm and begin exploring on thier own, that way the parents will learn to be better ones aswell.
Good luck whatever you decide :)
lol thats strange, especially for different species, I would have thought that the females would see other species fry as future competition?
My male Cacatuoides occasionally used to steal a few fry from the female and swim away into a corner and look after them for a bit. If the female came...
dang i think he may be infertile.
today my female is in full breeding colours and has completely cleaned out her bogwood cave and its ceeiling (i can see all she is doing through a small gap). But whenever she comes out and starts tailflicking at my male, he just swims off or eats food :/...
well my big guy is currently around 2" ish (and is a pretty big fella), whilst the female is probably at her maximum size. I think in the next month or so I will feed exclusivly live foods, and possibly split them for a bit... perhaps add a new female to see if the female is not the infertile...
Hey there
I have had Apistogramma Cacatuoides for a few years now, every few months producing a few fry, which my LFS gladly takes. Now I have one pair (one male from my first ever spawn and one female I bought a few months back), but for half a year I have had no luck at all. There have been...
thanks for the heads up, definatly going to get 2 more females, he is looking bored already lol, but luckily he has got over 200 cory eggs laid this morning to keep him busy ^^.
How long will it be before I get free swimming fry? Right now I think they're still in the eggs form, but I'm not sure
thanks for the info.
well i got 1 male and 1 female Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor yesterday, and already they have settled in perfectly, actually the male started meticulously cleaning an area of the tank, and attracting the female to it :).
Right now I think the female is carrying eggs, as...
hey there
I have been trying to do some research pn these guys, but havnt found much really. Has/does anyone keep them? I'm thinking of getting some, but there is not alot of info about them.
Any info gladly welcome
regards
Seb
Probably were eaten by the female. I had this too a while back. I had a batch of about 20 fry, few weeks after they first emerged, she kept trying to force them all into one small shell, whilst she raised more fry, eventually, she ate most of the first batch (I saved only 4 of them) and let her...
Hi all
My big male apistogramma cacatuoides sunburst recently died of old age, leaving his one female partner, now alone in an 80L tank. Six months ago, his original partner died, so I replaced her with his current female, which has produced a couple of spawns over the last few months (now...
Well I learned from evryones advice so thanks. Male in his own bit of the tank. 2 growing jeuveniles in another small section and approx 40 swimming babies!! : )
well its not going to go the way it did last time thanks to what I have learnt so just a general thanks
Well theres good and bad news. Female went a bit evil and ate all of her first brood, except 2 I manged to save. However I do have alot of wrigglers.
Well next time I'm definatly removing the male as soon as I detect even the faintest hint of eggs.
