On Closer inspection the male have red only on the bottom half of their tails and no hint of a diagonal strip on any of them. Very thick laterial line going on into the tail farther than the trifasiata. I'd say A. sp mamore. Ken
Thank Mike, from your discription sounds most likely to be Mamore. Laterial band is much wider and thicker, no diaginal belly stripe, red in tail and honey colored back. I'll try and get some better closeup pictures this weekend and e-mail them to you. I don't see any way for me to post directly...

That's a cull for sure. Line breed Cacs are bad about have such deformaties and people just keep breeding them anyway. Cull any like that and never buy from that source again. Ken
He's most likely importing mix bags of Apistos and doesn't care what they should be. Almost all imports have a few strays mixed in that are not the correct species and S. American exported (especially Peru) mislabled fish frequently. Ken
PM me before you import from anyone in S. America, some will send you crappy fish, others will just take your money. I've dealt with just about everyone. Just trying to save you some trouble. Ken
I'll be bringing lots of wild fish to the ACA, but couldn't tell you want until closer to the convention. I'll order fish in early July so I can quarantine and acclimate them before the convention. Ken
