    A.Angayuara and A.Salpinction

New species to the Apistogramma genus it seems, anyone knows more about these species? The text below it copied from the following webpage http://www2.nrm.se/ve/pisces/acara/cichpubl.shtml#taxa2005 Apistogramma angayuara Kullander and Ferreira, 2005: 362, fig. 1 (Brazil, Estado do...

    New book on dwarf cichlids!

Anyone else who ordered the book "Sudamerikanische Zwergcichliden/South American Dwarf Cichlids" from the german site. I did in late september and haven't received the book yet. Was it not published until October 10th, in Germany aswell? I want the book asap, getting sick and tired of waiting...

    Apisto trifasciata?

The first two picture is definitely A. Trifasciata. It is easy to see the third stripe that is between the anal fin and up the eye. However the last picture could possibly be A. Borelli male! It is very hard to see from the picture so I might be way off here. :) Regards / Chris

    New book on dwarf cichlids!

I have probably also bought the book. The entire order page was in German  so I hope i filled it out correctly. Anyway I would also be interested in the translation of Koslowskis book.

    Laetacara curviceps surprise

Hi Ryan! I would try to move the cories, the ancistrus and the betta to the new tank. The problem with keeping the cories and ancistrus in the old tank is that they probably will try to eat the eggs. But I would only do this if they are easy to catch, otherwise the Laetacara curviceps...

    Microgeophagus altispinosa - sex determination

Jennifer, I say that wild caught Mikrogeophagus ramirezi is much harder to keep than "farmed" ones. However this might depend much on the origin of your rams. My breed ones are from good quality stock, from a local breeder. But i know that Asia imported fish might be troublesome. (BTW, I live...

    Red gills on fry

Mike, I think that you wrote a very good answer. Quoting "Young fish have thin gill covers that are translucent" should explain why the larger more adult fry doesn't look so red in the gill area. I picked up a fish-medicine book and check against gill flukes, etc. I can't find any symptoms...

    Apistogramma chingano Novo Aripuana?

Thanks for your answers, i find them helpful. A. Sp. Chingarno is truly a beautiful fish, judging from the pictures in the links. To me the body shape shows resemblance to A. Iniridae, but it is definately more colorful than A. Iniridae. Mike Wise says in his post that it is a A.pulchra...

    Red gills on fry

Hello everyone! I have a tank with Nannacara Anomala fry, and I am concerned about the gills/ area around the gills, which are a little bit red. This is more pronounced in the smaller fry but exist in almost every fry (30-40 i think) except the larger ones. The largest fry has begun to show...

    Cichlid Atlas Key

I don't think there is a legend at all in the Römer book. However i did some thinking combined with reading the book back and forth. T= Temperature L= Length of species A= Recommended aquarium length R= Region, i.e. m= middle of the tank, b= bottom D= Difficulty 1=easy, 4=rather...
