    Sexing Apistogramma sp. pebas

At 1.5 inches, you'd put money on that being a female especially if the other fish in the same tank is a female. I think they are only occasionally polygamous. Here are pics of a female and male of the same approximate size from my tank

    Sexing Apistogramma sp. pebas

I am raising up about 20 pebas at the moment. They should be pretty easy to sex once they get to 2.5cm. You just have to wait till your fish settle a bit more and get their colors back.

    Asia Wtb: apistos in Australia

Its a constant battle trying to get good apistos down here in Aus. Not many local breeders are bothered with them. I've shipped a few apistos from Holger at http://www.secondnatureaquariums.com.au/ . If you are heading that way (Orange), drop in the shop. I have also placed orders from...

    Ramirezi

I have got 4 pairs of electric blues breeding at the moment. Unlike the normal gbr, the 1st dorsal spine is consistently tall in the electrics. I find these easier to sex than gbrs.

    Ramirezi

With a short first dorsal spine, the electric is probably a female. The tall first dorsal spine in males should be evident at 4cm.

    Apistogramma Sp. Steel Blue

Nice looking fish! For a probable hybrid, they look great and are easy to breed. They were my first apisto species and was what got me hooked on them. So I wouldn't go around knocking them. Been breeding them up to 4 generations now and consistently more than 90% of the fry are...

hey thanks ya all! Its my first pair of WC apisto and absolutely stoked to have fry already. This is my third dabble in apistos, and loving the genus. My first apisto foray was a couple of years ago with trifasciatas but that was an epic failure. The eggs kept fungusing and the colony...
