Thank you to all that answered, I do know that people will
Thank you.
Thank you, I realize that some will lie for profit and I try my best to learn the fish I have from what books I have, the internet and asking questions of people that know way more than me.
Here is a picture of my Viejita. I contacted the importer and he said he did in fact get these, they are F-1's. Mike I would like your opinion if you think these are real Viejita or Mac crossed. The one thing I have noticed is the body shape is completely different between the two, the Viejita...
For me it's to bright, if your not looking to breed the plecos for now may be ok, like Mac said too bright. I use cheap opaque cutting boards under the light to defuse the light and leaf litter also.
Doing a little vacuuming wont change a thing if it's unsightly to you. Most of the fish [apisto] we get are tank raised and have never seen dark water before and unless you have W/C really dont need it, but it's more of a personal thing, do the dark water fish like it more, I dont know, I've...

It's real easy to overload your local pet shops [I'm there now].
I have a female Mac. that has around 100 or so, but she is big and has had a few batches. Most dont make it and I'm glad, I still wind up with 30 or more. Most dont have batches that large, most of the apisto's I have normally have around 50 or so.
Have you tried just crushing up flake food and see if they will peck at it, most of time mine will not hit it unless it's moving [floating down] normally once the others see a couple of there group eating they will normally try it. I would start crushing flake food and mix a small amount with...
It really depends on wear I pick them up from, if suspect boil, in my yard drop and let them soak on there own.. Just make sure they are dead and dried.
Welcome johnathongardner, are you sure you have a M/F? If you could provide pictures it would help, but I can say I have a M/F [agassizii] and she is hell on wheels, you might try another female or rearrange the tank so they both have new territory's.
Your tank is nice, but I would open the center up a bit and leave just one male and one female the less aggressive one and try that. I the male larger than the female? Good luck
