    Panduro question

If you want the remaining 6 to live you should get them out. Not that they won't make it, some will for sure but their odds will be raised if you remove em. When the mother decides they are a threat to her new babies look out!

    Carnegiella strigata good ditter fish?

I also wanted to just add in that each individual fish has its own preferences and personalities as well, and I have used hatchets as dither for a while and they are no different. I have one common hatchet named ******* who likes to sit dead center middle of the tank by himself. Halfway to the...

what is you WC Apisto procedure?

Thank you gerald for the advice, you've always been helpful as long as I've been on this site. I wonder what makes the specific diseases more prevalent in our farmed fish as opposed to others.

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

The fry become free swimming after about 1 week. The eggs hatch after about 2-3 days but they can't swim for about a week. The more you try to see the eggs/wrigglers, the more she will move them and the higher her stress will be. My advice is try not to even look at her and her babies untill...

You're right you are extrondinarily lucky in that sense mike. While I plan on going with my girlfriend one day to collect our own, it is not something we can do anytime soon as we are buying a house soon among other things. I'm quite nervous about adding wild caught to my stock as my fish and...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Yea I really liked Harvey. Me and him were discussing going in together to start our own store but things fell through. I've since started going to fish factory, as the hidden reef kind of blows now. Back when Harvey got the big shipment of apistos I actually gave him a trio of my own...

    Life expectancy

Ah, I suppose over time I forgot parts of your response. I do believe some people here told me that they believed the temps contribute though. And it does make a bit of sense, but in the end all of these things are merely speculation and we can't say for certain which is causing it. What we...

    Stocking A 75

After looking through the pics, it does "appear" to be female, but there is only one pic I can see the pelvic fins and it's not a great shot. Generally I look for black in their pelvic fins to determine sex, I have never seen a male with black in the pelvic fins before. Even a "sneaker male"...

    Stocking A 75

I have never seen one that big, but that female could be a male. Could you get a better picture of the pelvic fins please. And just in general more finage is needed to properly id. Males who are submissive often take on the colors of females to avoid being beaten and picked on.

    Life expectancy

3 years is normal. Mike wise has one 5 years old and if I'm not mistaken even one 6 or 7 years old! He told me once he keeps his in cooler temps, breeds them only 1-2 times a year, and feeds them less. He can tell you more then I can though.
