Just wondering if anyone has had any success weening apisto fry onto dried food? I have a batch of fry 6-7 weeks old and I'm feeding BBS twice daily now each time adding a small amount of ground flake food, although as expected they seem to ignore the flake. Just wondering if anyone has any...
This was the day I picked them up - they have coloured up more now and the male has grown a much more pronounced dorsal fin - will put some new pics up soon
Right - just been to the vets and picked up a 1g sachet of "Panacur" - 222mg Fenbendazole - so will try and pluck up the courage to give it a go in the main tank first as I'm hoping my adult apistos will be more resilient to any meds. Thanks all for the tips - will hopefully post back with a...

This looks to be the cheapest flubendazole I can find online - any good?
Thanks I'll look into picking some up - does Hydra pose any real risk to newborn fry? Good to know you manage with them - I guess feeding BBS almost exclusively it is going to be something to learn to live with.
Wise words for wishful thinking ;) hydra already reappearing within 24 hours.
I have 5 x cacatuoides fry at 1 months old - would it be an idea to manage the hydra manually until they grow out to be moved on and then dose the tank to kill off the hydra at that point? I really don't want to...
Thanks - would it be worth scraping off the glass and then syphoning all the sand out (only a thin layer in the tank) and rinsing the sand off in old tank water? Don't want to use any treatments if I can avoid it. I'm feeding a 1 mil pippete of BBS 3 or 4 times a day at regular intervals I guess...
Can anyone please shed some light on what these white creatures / things are growing on the glass and substrate of my grow out tank? I've seen them before when I was growing out Corydoras fry and I assume they are caused by overfeeding of a small 10 gallon tank? Any help appreciated - many thanks.
Your corys will get battered - believe me I tried this and it simply doesn't work - if you really want to get an apisto then I recommend getting rid of your corys first, it's not nice to watch a harmless cory getting repeatedly dive bombed as they stray into an apistos territory.
I wasn't at home for the first 4 days of the spawn this is just a guess as I saw a change in behaviour of the female before I left for a few days so I am guessing I possibly lost a few fry to the male and or filter when I was away! Thanks for the advice on water changes will adjust to suit :)
Also I have noticed occasionally 1 fry going crazy and flicking against the sand / jerking around for short periods. I just noticed it again and hope it is just the one fish. Is this anything to be concerned about? It's one of the larger fry so wouldn't think it is one of the weaker ones?
Ok so I've got 10 fry at the 2 week stage of my first Cacatuoides spawn - I've moved the male to a 10 gallon tank so it's just the female and fry in the main 15 gallon. I was doing a 25% water change every day but as I used some of the water in setting up the 10 gallon they had pretty much a 50%...
