Most all of the species sold as "kribs" are great spawners when properly set up. They also have the advantage that the fry are large enough to take bigger foods as soon as they are freeswimming. Feed close to the fry so that they get all the food as they tend to move about a lot and seldom...
All mosquitos have similar larvae. Some get larger than others and some of the larger species are predatory, primarily cannibalistic but they will eat fry and eggs if available. The gray mosquito you are using is not native here. We do have a smaller mosquito, 3/16 inch adults, which I do...
Be careful to Identify driftwood type. If it is a nondeciduos species or certain hardwoods it can be toxic. I consulted for a pet shop in Miami Florida years ago. Guy had A beautifully designed 300 gallon discus tank with excellent water quality and doing his water changes and was still...
Mosquito larvae are not strictly vegetarian and can be dangerous to eggs and fry. If mother is gaurding closely they are usually safe but it is better to leave off the mosquitoes until your fry are at least twice size of larvae.

I obviously need to up date my literature and studies. You guys have mentioned several l am totally unfamiliar with. It has been years since I initially studied apistos and I have kust gotten back into them in the past two years. Time to hit the books. Any good current recommendations?

I have actually never tried grindals. I have never found a clean starter culture. Partially from moving around a lot and partially from lack of effort. I have done every well with a variety of fresh and frozen foods. So I can make every few comments on grindals. My observation was to...
Live foods are good for your fish but they also require variety. Switching their foods, or keeping a ''dirty'' tank will provide for variety and better nutrition.
Most all tetras will eat eggs. Ram eggs are small enough to be on the menu for anything that will take eggs. This includes snails, crayfish, frogs, some types of shrimp, and other culprits that people forget to think about. In addition most tetras will poach fry.
