That was my fear...
I contacted the breeder and he said that will send me one female as soon as possible. But I'll have to keep this male. My only option is pass him to the bigger tank and hope the dicrossus does not care about it. The other tank is 1,4m long and I keep 4 dicrossus (3f 1m)...
Updates.
I received the pencil fishs. They are Nannostomus trifasciatus.
Here's another picture of the lesser Apistogramma:
The fins looks right to me, they are very smaller than the male's fins. What concerns me is the dark spot on the mouth. I believe that only males develop it, right...
I'll take some more photos of the lesser one today. I also asked the breeder if it's possible that he sent me two males by mistake.
Thank you very much Frank.
Oh, nice to know it! Thank you very much.
With that said, it seems to bem A227 to me. The caudal fin does not show blue at all.
The breeder said to me that this is a F1 pair. So they can't be hybrids, right?
I'm also starting to think that they are two males instead a pair...
Thanks Frank!
Can you tell me the difference between this two species? I took a look on Tom C's website and noticed that sp. Abacaxis maybe have longer black line on caudal fin. Is it right?
As mentioned before, I bought them as "Apistogramma sp. abacaxis". Looks the specie is right to me, but I'm no expert and like Frank said it could be sp. Marimari as well...
I'll update here when they get bigger so we can know it for sure.
Thanks for the help. I ordered 10 pencil fish at my local fish store. I’ll know the species only when they arrive… Brazil at its best. Last time I bought I get Nannostomus eques. This time? Who knows. Lol
Male is already showing amazing colors. What a beauty!
What species of pencil fish do you think it is better to keep with the abacaxis? Will they prey the fry?
Here some pics. I think that they really are a pair, right?

Thanks in advance!
Water is no longer milky. After a few days it turns into crystal clear again.
The only thing remain to be done is the black background.
Fishes are been shipped today. I should receive 'em tomorrow.
Thank you, Rasmus!
Yes, I do have a filter already. I was afraid that it's subdimensioned. But I'll wait a couple days to see if the water gets clear.
The tank will have just a pair of A. abacaxis and maybe (a big maybe) a school of pencil fish.
I'll update here as soon as possible.
This fishes are pure evil... Saddly, one female died yesterday.
The male and the other two females are doing great, but there is one last female that is being attacked by 'em. It does not look to do much damage, but the stress is what concerns me. Actually, the male does not damage the female...
I'm still adjusting my water parameters.
pH is around 6,6~6,4. I'm trying to low it a little bit.
So... My water is "milky". How can I solve this problem? Doing more WCs? I'm about to buy a second filter for this tank, maybe a canister. What do you think? Would it be helpfull?
I also buy a...
Thank you Mac!
Already got the fine light sand and some palm tree twigs. I'll try to get other driftwoods this weekend.
Would Eichhornia crassipes be a good choice?
Hello.
Does anybody have pictures of the A. abacaxis in the wild? I'll try to copy their natural habitat in this tank but found just a few - to none - pictures of the Abacaxis river online.
I know that must be similar to amazon rivers in general, but I'm trying to make it similar as I can to...
All the cianos are gone!
I noticed that the male dicrossus is being super aggressive to two females. The other two females are ok but they are also aggressive towards the same females. Is it breeding behavior? There is something that I could do to help?
