be very careful of your wild bogwood, it can cause fungal problems if not treated right. Even beach driftwood has caused fungus for me, but I might just be unlucky. I usually just buy it to save the hassle of losing fish and gutting the tank. but other members might have tried and tested woods/...
I'll take a guess by saying the twenty long is not big enough for the last male to develop and he is getting chased. I have what I think is two males but one large male has retarded the development of the other and that is in a 35 gallon long with just the 2 conspecifics. But I don't really know...
would you have any idea how to treat this? I'm stumped. I cant remember all the meds ive already tried but I guess most of them were for external fungus. A few i have still are protozin and myxazin by waterlife, plus your average general treatments by tetra and king british.
well i saw the injury fungus free first.well i'm not absolutely certain of course, but it looked liked a knocked off scale, now its a pretty large mark on his flank with white stuff.I'll try to get a good photo. Its like columnaris but thicker, whiter. I dont understand how he is the only fish...
I have no way of getting a decent photograph of this ailment but all i need is advice on a certain course of action. My inka 50 recently injured itself on a piece of wood and a fungal growth has appeared on the wound. Now this exact problem in the same tank has happened to a ctenopoma...
ive been donated a 5ft fish tank and will be looking to get a pair of adoketa.I will pay £50 for a bonded pair or the same amount for 5 juveniles. the tank will not start running until i find a new flat so this is really a heads up if anybody is breeding in the uk and looking for potential...
i was whinging that nobody had voted for mine, then i read the voting rules and shortly after that, bam one vote!! Also considering I have infinitely superior taste than the rest of you, its a clear victory in my view.
I wouldnt have taken them out.If your female is just getting the hang of things, I think she will end up doing a better job than we can. I think it also helps the fry who learn from commands when they're young (must bully dither fish). My agassizi were great parents although the male might eat a...
if your going for black neons i would go for black phantom tetra, they are much more amusing to watch and they only really care about their group and your feeding. I think cacatuiodes wouldn't have much problems with them.
I think it depends if your breeding them in there. If your not I doubt it matters, my cacatuoides have always been pretty confident fish as long there is hiding places and maybe a few floating plants. but fifty g is pretty big for 3 cacatuoides, so I would add pencil fish, hatchets or something.
thanks, im going to try to convince the guy to take the fry with the parents as their best bet. I no longer have that little crazy agassizi, she would gather as many worms as she could put them in a pile and defend them against the other fish. She kept one batch safe until they stopped wriggling...
I am giving away my dorsigera pair and for ease of collection I moved them into a holding tank. The guy had to wait a couple of days and in the meantime they have spawned in the bloody holding tank. Now I don't think that guy will want the eggs as he has a community tank and the fish won't be...
If once you had taken a photo, and it was a great photo except that there was a water smudge mark on the glass of the aquarium, could you be forgiven for just getting rid of it? Or is the no photoshop policy strict?
yes its a dorsigera female preparing to rush the young baenschi from her territory. She is ready to breed so she is black and purple right now. Its my favourite photo, especially considering that I have to take hundreds of random photos to get the focus right, simply because the camera view...
your best keeping them around 25 deg c and there is a better hatch rate with a light source. I put a pinch of bicarbonate soda in with mine for ph i guess. I cant afford maintaining a desk light 24hours a day so i put the upended bottle in a small bucket of water and heat the bucket with a...
the lighting is 24watt plantgro bulb (its pinkish light) there is also a few cattalpa leaves in there because i had a black hair algae epidemic and tried everything. There is a lot of plants em ill try to remember. in the foreground/midground are Echinodorus Tenellus, Eleocharis Acicularis...
This guy came in with some other fish I had delivererd. He is about an inch and a half long: I dont know age. I think his dorsal is great but im worried that his head is maybe a little pointy and his back a little high. I need an expert verdict
