Anyone know of a source for good strain(s) of A. trifasciata in the US? By "good" I mean good coloration and even scalation (ie. not overly inbred and showing odd/deformed body shape). Are WC of this species imported periodically (or not)? Would like to work with them some day.

Pair in courtship display. Notice the male's fins are not fully extended but rather folded downward during his shimmy-shake dance. Female showing brood-care behavior and coloration. I expect fry any day now.

Looks like this is a definite pair judging by the finnage and behavior. Male continuously displays courtship (not aggression) toward the smaller fish. Here a couple of sub-par photos of the male. Looks like A. megaptera or possibly young A. piarora. Any opinions on which one based on fins?
If I wanted to add some kind of brown organic matter to an apisto tank, I'd go with peat or small pieces of dried (and then soaked so it sinks) oak leaves. Like I said, cocco fibers can be harmful if the small rigid fibers are ingested. Kind of like a human ingesting shredded bamboo. Although an...
