I wish i could get back the two pairs of Pelvicachromis humilis Dinkaya that I got from Tony Orso a few years ago. I could not control their aggression, not even in a 75G tank.
Hi Lonny,
I have three mated, adult (yet young) pairs of guntheri loennbergii, and would be willing to pass one pair on to you. Send me a Pm, if interested. I do not mind shipping fish, but the temps are supposed to crash from the mid 50s to below freezing tomorrow. If you are interested, i...
I'd like to improve my success rate with T. tholloni. Here's the problem. I'm doing pretty well getting my pairs to spawn. I tried to leave eggs and fry with parents, but that doesn't work all that well. The parents are not defending the fry well enough against the other tholloni in the 75G...
I checked with Oliver about the Nanochromis; here's what he had to say:
"Hi Janos,
should have been consortus./splendens, but it could be that Kevin picked the fish from the wrong tank...sorry about that. I have some parilus here that are different from the normal parilus, maybe he...
You might be right. On the other hand, it was because of the tail coloration, why Anton suggested it might be parilus. (Anton has seen a second picture that I haven't posted here.) The trio spent all day in hiding, i.e., new and hopefully better pictures will have to wait.
Jeff,
No doubt there is a strong resemblence compared with parilus. I'll try to get better pictures. I'll also gpo ahead and contact Oliver to see if he has additional information.

Thanks Rod. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I disagree with your ID. If you see the fish "live" it clearly is a species of Steatocranus. The pic is a little misleading and one can easily mistakeit is Orthochromis sp. -- I give you that. As I said, Anton, Mark, Oliver, and I all agree...
Hi! I got two wild-caught additions to the fish room that trace back to Oliver Lucanus' shop. The pictures aren't great but I didn't want to delay the transfer into the tanks. As for the top picture, Anton Lamboj, Mark Smith, and I (and obviously Oliver) agree that it is Steatocranus sp. Bulk...
I caught another glimpse of the male today; seems like the black coloration is gone. It's tough to say for sure, though, as mine are extremely shy. I would agree with the comments by the other forum members. As of today, I have yet to see the great coloration the fish were praised for when...
I've got a question. I bought some of the roloffi Samba that are currently available in the U.S. My specimens are very shy but seem to do well. Today I saw one of the fish in a "Samba tank" zooming by the front glass at feeding time. Its tail root was extremely dark, almost black. Could the...
I have some T. joka juvies (F2) available. Check out my auction on Aquabid with a link to a videoclip on Youtube. I will ship within the continental US from Zip 68516.
Jeff,
I'm going for what's listed as "Nanochromis splendens true nudiceps" -- please PM (or email) min/max quantity and price at your convenience. If you end up ordering T. depressum and end up getting extra females (highly doubtful), I will take those too. Thanks for posting so quickly!
