Most pet stores should have at least brineshrimp and/or blackworms, if not you can order them from several different online sources. Like bilbo suggests culturing your own food is better. For example in the spring I set up a set up one of those blue molded wading pools and wait for the larva to...
Nickos, thanks for the link. I finally got it to come up on a search after I realized I was spelling it tucanoicthys instead of tucanoichthys.
Blueblue, very awesome fish! Sorry I can't help with breeding info. Now I am gonna have to see if my lfs can get some to go with my shrimp.
I agree with Ruki about leaving out the Barlowi not only do the have a large mouth, but they are one of the large Apisto species and get pretty nasty during breeding and the Rams would probably be in danger.
Diamond is usually a trade name for Eremnopyge, but mix ups do happen unfortunately and another fish can come in by mistake. I like Rich ran into a mis-id but what I found was a Pebas type fish. I would just wait and see what they are when they come in.
I'm not going to say it's impossible because I'm sure that someone has made it or will make it work with the proper amount of plants, wood and stones, but I personal wouldn't try it especially if you intend to breed them. I keep a trio of Cacatuoides in a 50 breeder and each female take an end...
I need to find a female to adopt my galaxis eggs, she has spawned seven times now that I know of and eaten all but two lucky fry(now juvies) that hid in the roots of a java fern.
I have what I thought was two adult female Biotoecus and things are changing. The largest one about 1 3/4" is definately a female stubbier bodied with an ever growing pink belly also becoming increasingly more aggressive toward the other, and the smaller one 1 1/2" had a pink sheen in the belly...
Some people would say shrimp and apistos are no problem especially with adult shrimp, but cacs have pretty big mouths and I have seen pics of a cac swallowing a panduro not too much smaller than itself. So I would say if they can catch them they will eat them.
I have to agree with Steve about the dicrossus. In my opinion a school of dicrossus fits better in a dwarf tank than a mish mash of 5 or 6 different species. This also would eliminate the losses from the macmasteri and viejita fighting with each other. I have tried to keep macmasteri with other...
That's pretty cool that you keep a ghost shrimp species in your breeding tanks. That of all shrimp species would be the one I thought would be a big fry predator. I do use ottos sometimes and have tried cherry shrimp until I found some of them eating fry, but for some reason I don't like or...
