This month's Picture of the Month (POTM) theme is open to ALL FRESHWATER FISHES. Entries will be accepted until August 19th at 11:00 PM Central Standard Time.
Please EMAIL your entry to [email protected] ; be sure to include your username, the species name (if known - or best guess)...
A tie?! A tie?! Ok, here's what I'm gonna say.
Congrats to M.ramirezi on winning July's POTM Contest and his 150*50*60 Peruvian altum biotope looks pretty awesome.
I can say that, because the other photo (Too Much Energy #5) is mine; and I only really submitted it so we would have enough...
Remember, this contest closes in two days! Time to get your vote in.
On another note, if you have any ideas for next month's contests, shoot me an email [email protected] or PM me here.
Like the caves out of the clay pots. I would add a couple more to provide adequate hiding places; maybe two with holes at the top instead of the side? Add some driftwood or oak leaves or more plants to break up the sight lines between the pots. Looks like a good start.
Normally, it's the other way around for me...the females take out their aggression on the males. I think maybe it's typical of fish living in too crowded conditions that the 'lesser' fish is not able to escape, like in the wild, or seek adequate refuge.
This month's contest theme was open to FULL TANK SETUPS. Voting will end July 31st at 9:15 PM CST. Thanks again to the five participants! Was really hoping for a larger turn out, but we'll do another one of these before the year's end, because I know that July is a very busy month.
Please...
Unfortunately, I don't have these anymore; but they are around the area. The males are pretty blue sheen with orange tails. This is the first apisto I ever spawned.

Got these from the guy that collected them in the wild. Very happy with these, again the fry just turn out more and more stunning as the generations go. I think I'm on my third generation now.

Formerly known as A. schwarzkinn 'black chin', got these from Aquatic Clarity after I lost my trio about four years ago -- never thought I'd have them again, by far my favorite apisto.
