How long does it take for bacteria to break down nh4

So it was mentioned that at very low ph a different type of bacteria forms to break down ammonia et all but is this something that happens after a few weeks or can it take years ?

Is this a pair of Apistogramma cf. moae?

Interresting - i understand the fish has trouble navigating the lip. Thank you. In usa they only seem to have a square one with straight lips the one in hte video looks much better since the curve at the top will make it more difficult for the fish to get out.

    Trifasciata Anomaly

I'm not sure if barbels grow back but i will say that I suspect they do - when i moved 3 years ago i setup a 500 gallon aquarium and moved all my various sterbai into this aquarium along with a few others so it has around 25 - naturally it is hard to see them all at one time as they scatter...

    Rio Negro focused Biotope Tankmates

Another but larger option are some of the Mesonauta species such as guyanae. I have two species mirificus and egregius and egregius is much smaller than mirificus which can get close to 6 inches (males - females seem to stay around 4) - my mirificus are alot older - around 7 years of ownership...

    Longfin German Blue Rams

In the usa you can picked up wild caught blue rams. I've seen them available a couple of times from reliable sellers the past 3 years - i have one that is 3 years old now. They of course lack the strong colours of their domestic breed .... This presume the exporter is actually selling specimens...

    Longfin German Blue Rams

The orange belly of the first might be a female but it is hard to tell if it is just a colour varation or orange tummy. The 2nd one is a totally different morph that is mostly electric blue - If the fishes pair up and you see two different type of breeding tubes you have a pair otherwise you...

    Rio Negro focused Biotope Tankmates

Yea i've been debating on altums myself the problem is i really don't want to go taller than 24 or maybe 28 inch since i like being able to reach the bottom to manage plants. I'm pretty happy with my group of b. wavarni but not sure why they appeal to me more than the b. cupido. I keep the...

    Wanted Dicrossus Foirni

Every once in a while wetspot will get them as well as aquaticclarity - maybe once every 2 years. You can set w watch on wetspot page for notifications though i will note the past 12 to 14 months i've not seen any interesting sa fishes (i wonder if politics are involved); though they have gotten...

    Rio Negro focused Biotope Tankmates

no - i have Dicrossus maculatus - beautiful but large fish. sadly only 2 are still alive after 2+ years but they get along even if two males. Even though the tank is rather large (I have a 500 but mine is 8x4x2); a few comments - first your tank is really really tall and deserve really tall...

    New to group. Advice please

I'm a believer that drip acclimination is bad and i will set the unopen bag in the aquarium for 15 to 30 minutes and then open the bag - poor the water down the drain and plop the fish in - however there are other ways to mess up such as having a bad layout for the aquarium or very hard water...
