any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Sadly I haven't seen any in the shop in a long time :( However I do know where you can buy transvestitus or parilus online right now. If I recall transvestitus was $50 a pair and the parilus was $60 for a trio (1m and 2f) let me know if you're interested. Both are species I'd like to keep...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Certainly Kevin. I'll make a note of it right now so I don't forget about it. Atm they are the only fish in the fish room I'm not actively trying to breed lol. But they've only been in there about 3 weeks so with any luck they will get around to it soon.

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Thanks for the update Kevin! I bet those A. cruzi are looking great. Excellent species! I've seen some pics of the pelvicachromis they had very nice. One of the employees there is a member of one of the Facebook groups I admin. I have to say I almost went and got some myself. However I'm...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

You know I said the same thing but I actually went ahead and bought them. I have to say in person their color is phenomenonal. The male is like a little rainbow. He has reds, oranges, greens, yellows, and blues all over him. If you're not interested that's fine =P. Your loss lol, baenschi...

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

If your interested I have a bunch of Apistogramma sp. Winkelfleck unsexed juvies up for sale now, I'd be willing to meet halfway somewhere to avoid shipping. Just posted them up to aquabid a little bit ago =P

pictures of A. sp. abacaxis & winklefleck

I'll have to work on getting some photos for you mike. I don't actually have any of the fish, but I have a friend who has some. To my untrained eye they look very much like the variant that comes from Lago Glemende and I wrongly assumed they were which got me and Jeff into a little arguement...

Hey Mike, what is your take on the new abacaxis that have come into aquatic clarity with the collection location São Gabriel? Also I'd like to take a moment to thank you for the 2 wonderful articles you have written that are posted on tom c's site. They have been a tremendous help for me in...

Sorry kevin, don't know how to help. At one point ammo was doing that a lot, maybe a year ago, but he just eventually stopped. Did not know it was a problem lol

Thank you for the info Mike, I've been wondering about where they came from. I am hoping to get ahold of some as I do enjoy the pattern they have in their caudal fin.

pictures of A. sp. abacaxis & winklefleck

In my own personal experiences the factor that's always been most important for apisto keeping has always been TDS and KH. It has always seemed to me the fish do well in whatever the pH may be as long as those values stay very low.

Thank you Mike! I did not know that. Is that where the A. cf. abacaxis is collected? I've seen a few recently popping up as cf.

pictures of A. sp. abacaxis & winklefleck

These apistos like a much lower pH as well as a low TDS / GH / KH. Cacatuoides is one of the more versatile species in that it is found in the wild in a wide range of pH and TDS values. Abacaxis however have a much more narrow range as there is only 1 collection location to my knowledge, which...

True Apistogramma viejita brought to Europe

There are many people currently keeping and breeding A. viejita now. Thanks to many passionate A. viejita owners such as yourself, I do not think the fish is in danger of being lost to the hobby again any time soon. However currently many other species already have been. I think all the...

    Apistogramma hongsloi female ?

It's hard to say then as the fish is still small. It could be a male in disguise being bullied by the larger male. However my guess is that it is a female. I am not at all certain though. More pictures may help.

any apisto's available in the Philly metro area?

Well it depends. Nitro started out yellow, eventually went orange, and now is a very deep red. So it can change. On the other hand Ammo is closer to orange, and in certain places he is definitely orange. I have seen some triple reds that have their tails go from red to orange to yellow at...

    Apistogramma with Bolivian Rams?

I would not put rams and apistos both in a 20g. I generally use 20 longs for my breeding tanks, and at times with certain pairs it can seem to small for only them. In my opinion 1 pair of dwarves in a 20g tank and no more. Especially since the footprint is a bit smaller on a 20g as opposed to...
