    Introduction from South Jersey

Glad you made it through Sandy ok. In March in the DC area is "Aquamania" in Gaithersburg MD in March 2013, sponsored by the Capital Cichlid Association. Maybe it's something you may be interested in? When I find out more, I'll post it.

    Hey from USA Wisconsin

Try aquabid. Also a few members sell fish (see bottom of the forum, like Aquatic Clarity). Where in the US are you located. There may be members and fish clubs in your area that can sell you apistos.

Are the AAAA meetings still at Emory? I went there for school for 3 years- I wish I new about it when I was there.

    Hi, from Johannesburg, South Africa

Wow! Nice Amano or Amano style tanks. What are the plants you used in your tanks? What type of lighting? Do you use CO2? And the rocks in the second tank, what are they (I'm guessing they raise the pH). Did you start the tank as "emersed"?

Where to buy good quality apistogramma?

Where in the USA do you live? There are lots of fish clubs, and some of them specialize in cichlids (like the Capital Cichlid Association, albeit its more rift lake or angels or discus).

    Aggassizi trio

I would move the agassizi to another tank by themselves, 10 to 15 gallons (cue M's matra "A community tank is not a breeding tank"). Even if the male fertilzes the eggs, the tetras, swordtails and angels would like make a quick meal of the fry. Also, maybe feed blackworms: that will help get...

Welcome! I'm in DC now, but I went to school at Emory. I wish I knew about AAAA when I was in school.

Different styles of keeping apistos. US vs Asian

It seems that the middle east area also follows a more "asian" line of fish keeping (not surprising as water is scarce in desert areas). There was a nasty thread on a catfish related forum where folks in the Netherlands were criticizing an Israeli pleco keeper for a "stamp collecting" type of...

    Keeping low pH

What about adding an alder cone in the cave with the spaghnum moss? Will that up the anti-fungal properties at the microhabitat level too?

Monster Fishkeepers Sued by Monster Energy Drink

Monster Energy drinks is claiming that Monster Fish Keepers is infringing on their copyrights. Though the drink company has a weak case against Monster Fish Keepers, the legal resources available to the drink company could allow them to essentially bankrupt Monster Fish Keepers in a legal...

    Fish not eating

Maybe you could put the worms in a little shallow dish to prevent the worms from digging in to the gravel.
