In March in the DC area is "Aquamania" in Gaithersburg MD in March 2013, sponsored by the Capital Cichlid Association. Maybe it's something you may be interested in? When I find out more, I'll post it.

Try aquabid. Also a few members sell fish (see bottom of the forum, like Aquatic Clarity).
Where in the US are you located. There may be members and fish clubs in your area that can sell you apistos.
Wow! Nice Amano or Amano style tanks. What are the plants you used in your tanks? What type of lighting? Do you use CO2? And the rocks in the second tank, what are they (I'm guessing they raise the pH). Did you start the tank as "emersed"?
Where in the USA do you live? There are lots of fish clubs, and some of them specialize in cichlids (like the Capital Cichlid Association, albeit its more rift lake or angels or discus).
I would move the agassizi to another tank by themselves, 10 to 15 gallons (cue M's matra "A community tank is not a breeding tank"). Even if the male fertilzes the eggs, the tetras, swordtails and angels would like make a quick meal of the fry.
