Have you considered making infusoria for your fry? Should be quite straightforward.
My Cacatuoides male likes to also snack on the fry so keep an eye on him.

Just wanted to share my first A sp. abacaxis fry! About 10-20 tails. Don´t know is that a proper batch size for abacaxis?
Expect none to survive as there are some Hemigrammus bleheri (going into a bigger tank) in the tank as well as the male and another female.

For your guestion: I have no experience with A. atahualpa but My A. sp. abacaxis harem (1+2) has been interesting. Both females have had breeding "experiments", but no fry so far. Maybe my water is still a bit too hard.
