hey all, my pair of macmasteri has a chosen cave (i think), there is a divit infront of it, its maybe 1 cm deep and 4 cm wide. I have seen these created to hold bolivian ram fry, by bolivian rams parents. I was not aware that this was done by apistos especially macs. Will they move the fry into...
So, the female is the same colour as before and just swimming with the male all over the aquarium rarely more than a few fish lengths away. i have a bristlenose pleco in the aquarium, i thought that he might scare them but not eat the eggs because they spawn in caves usually. is he the cause of...
ph is 6.8, i lowered it a bit. 27 degrees, (80 degrees farenheit) 0 ammonia, 0 NO3, I don't have a test kit for the hardness but the response for my city water supply is 2.42 - 6.31 mg/L. my aquarium is a 20 gallon high, i re-arranged decor and did my 4th water change of the week
She is not being harassed and most of the time she stays at the middle of the aquarium, she just comes up to the glass inquisitively quite often. also she is at the top of the aquarium hunting for cherry shrimp babies in ball of floating plant matter. Another thing is when I put my hand in the...
if there were eggs would she be at the top of the water column and exploring? i just thought they stuck near the cave like other fish i've bred before.
Hello everyone, i have had a pair of macmasteri in a "breeding aquarium" with a lazy Guppy with back problems. i've had the fish in there for 2 months and have multiple caves and hides for them. My ph currently is 6.9 i am wondering because macmasteri are an apistogramma that is very...
hello all recently my lfs got in a shipment of all male macmasteri. i saw the fish and i picked out one sleeper male which i thought was a female i am still unsure on this fact. could someone help me identify them, i am concerned i have 2 males instead of a pair. thanks for any input
First off sorry for your loss, also is this a 20 gallon tall or a 20 gallon long? This matters a lot, as the footprint is much more important than water volum.
okay i understand about too much apisto, i'm returning one female tomorrow. which one should i return? the dominant female; guppy chasing sometimes male chasing female. or the more docile female, that has been harassed. photos of tank layout and fish below. the female that has been harassed is a...
to answer the question about the rainbows asked a long time ago, one is most certainly a p.luminatus male. they look more like males around their own species i find. The other 2 are p.frucatus females from what i can see in the photo.
Hey all, i have a 20h aquarium with a trio of apistogramma agassizii fire gold one female is extremely dominant and i have one female being picked on. the male has stopped chasing the dominant female and kind of swims after the less dominate female on occasion. They are in a tank with one...
Thanks for the reply, how long should the pair be out of the aquarium before I reintroduce them, also my community aquarium with Bolivan rams has different parameters, so could i use a 15 gallon rubermaid temporarily? i will move the tetras and corydoras
Hello everyone I have been lurking on this website for almost a year now. I have gotten some Apistogramma agassizii “fire gold var.” I bought a pair for my 20h, it’s a community aquarium with a few tetra. I could move most of my fish to a bolivian ram aquarium if need be. The aquarium is heavily...
