It looks like a nice addition to hobby periodicals except I don't know why they made it PC unfriendly.
I wanted to read a lot of the teaser articles listed.
I have no intentions of adding an iPad to my collection of 3 lap top computers. one old XP and two new Windows 7 machines.
I understand...
Over half of my tanks are lighted with the dual tube Coralife Aqualght fixture(fresh water) lamps.
I cut 3/16" glass covers which is cut in half lengthwise and the two halves are connected with the plastic hinge material.
I cut each back corner at a 45* angle to allow for air and power equipment...
I just noticed this discussion and it looks like I better order a couple one pound tins of cysts while they getting is good.
Back to the subject at hand, there are many ways to hatch out cysts. Which method is best suited for your needs depends on how much newly hatched Artemia you use each...
I buy most of my fish from two dealers who consistently have a large selection and healthy fish.
I have bought adult D. filamentosus for about $7.50 and subadults for a little more than $5.00 from

They...
Sexable sized D. filamentosus do often run up to $8.00 each at the places I buy them but young wild D. filamentosus are currently available in lots of six for only $33.00 at

I have received a dozen from...
Nannostomus beckfordi is the least trustworthy of the Pencilfish in an Apistogramma breeding tank. They act more like many of the other popular small Tetras than typical Pencils. Nannostomus eques are my preferred species like many of the others have said.
N. mortenthaleri has intense...
I was able to raise a spawn of about 75 F1 Apistogramma agassizi to adults in a US 20 gal Long. I had removed the eggs and hatched them out using the artificial method.
I provided a about 200 hollow ceramic bio-media tubes to give every fish privacy and once they out grew those mini-caves, I...
I think Daphnia magna are the easiest of the three organisms to culture but it usually takes awhile to find the set up which works best for you and furthermore it may prove that one of the other two are better suited for your circumstances and each will require some experiments to find out how...
I have cultured Artemia but for Dwarf Cichlids it is easier to hatch out a fresh batch each day.
I raised them by transferring clean shrimp to 33 gal plastic garbage cans supplied with lighting and heater.
I fed them Bakers yeast in suspension adding more as the water began to clear. It takes...
No pictures.
It is just two one liter jars with two holes drilled in the plastic lids. .
Air goes into the first fitting which is threaded and glued into the lid. It has a section of rigid 3/16 inch tubing reaching the bottom. The air bubbles up and goes out the other fitting to the next jar...
flashbang,
Your Rams are beautiful.
That is the first time I have ever seen a pair spawn so high off the bottom and on the sides. Looks like they are great parents. Their brood care is what I miss since it has been seen so rarely among Rams I have bred. I have had many get to newly hatched...
I forgot to add that it is possible to use too many leaves. They decay quickly and sometimes that can have a negative effect on water quality.
I use a couple whole Cattapa leaves in a twenty long but they are reduced to bare outlines by the MTS in just ten days.
They are enough to give my water...
I use a couple of two liter commercial brine shrimp hatching cones and hatch out two tsp of cysts in each one. I have a friend who set up a neat little system where he used two one liter jars and the lids have hose inlets and outs so he can run air into one and then it flows to the next jar so...
Tom,
The first pair of Apistogramma nissenji shown in the first shot in your first post was like my first and only wild pair I ever had. Mine spawned several times but I wasn't used to working with fish in nearly neat RO at a pH of about 4.5 and never did get any eggs to hatch. I was buying...
Most any small aquatic animals which show up in a fish free container like a rain barrel are apt to be safe to feed to your T. candidi. For Cyclops and Daphnia to be present indicate there is some other source for part of the water reaching the barrel. The Daphnia and Cyclops do not...
Nice sized brood.
I miss out on the Apistogramma brood care too often. Many pairs I get turn out to be egg eaters no matter the size of the tank or how it is furnished that I try. Some seem so easy and some aren't. It's always the ones I want the most that play hard to propagate.
cichlid junkie,
I wish there was a practical affordable way to acquire your female.
Yes, I bought them from wetspottropicalfish.com as Blue pearl tefe but I informed sales manager, Anthony of the correct ID and he wrote back that he was going to change the listing to the correct name. I haven't...
If you mean are angelfish OK as in a community tank with some Cockatoo dwarf cichlids then the answer is yes but if you wish to breed any Dwarf Cichlid either give them their own breeding tank and maybe use some Nannostomus eques Pencilfish as dither fish although I have never bothered to keep...
Hydra are now easily eradicated without risking any harm to plants, fish, shrimp or bio-fillter with just a pinch of 10% flubendazole powder.(1/8 tsp/20 gal)
If you live in the USA you can easily obtain some from Charles Harrison, www.inkmkr.com/fish
Treat all your all your tanks so you...
