They are Apistogramma sp 'Steelblue'.. Strongly suspected to be a man made 'hybrid' species from Asia. Yours are both males if the pictures show two seperate fish.

The initial reaction of the male to the female was to display, within seconds of them meeting the male was displaying. Is this uncommon? no i dont think so, in the wild i should imagine...

I know better to enter any kind of breeding competition with our friend Raymondo... He was breeding fish when i was a child and he is my mentor and one of my closest friends in the hobby. As long as one of us manages to breed these fish then that will be fine..
