Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Good to know. I just added a small amount.

Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Yes, I know. :) I was thinking that I have the right one, because it works pretty well in the other tank.

Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Okay, thanks. In fact, I already worked through the duckweed index, but I guess I am still too blind to identify the causes :). The "melting" of the limnobium did really confuse me. Too bad, I really like the h. aristata. Especially the roots. Would you go for trying to raise Mg first and...

Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Ok, thanks, I will do as you say. I was cutting a little bit short on the botanicals, because the wood is tinting the water so much, that i really are at the point of too dark water. But maybe this is just subjective :)

Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Okay, thanks. Parameters: EC: between 25 and 40 us/cm, depending on what day after wc you are measuring. pH - drop test: around 6 No3 - I get different readings, but it is usally low. Between nothing and 1 ppm KH - Not detectable with drop test (switches color with the first drop) GH - I have...

Deficiency symptoms in H. leucocephala – magnesium or iron deficiency?

Hello everyone, I have a problem in my larger tank, the 240-liter aquarium. Ever since I set it up, my plants have been dying off, especially the floating plants. Limnobium laevigatum and hygroryza aristata in particular. Today I noticed that I can clearly see the leaf veins on the floating H...

any experience with Apistogramma mendezi ?

I once had them (1,1) in a 175 litre tank with dense plant growth with pH around 6 and ec in the 90 to 120 us/cm. They spawned in there but the fry never became free swimming. I had the "Santa isabel" Form. At least they were sold as such. There was more aggression between them than...

    Sexing Macmasteri and its morph

Cool! I am really glad that it worked out for you. Sounds like a nice fish you got there. Just in case it was a parasite, I'd keep an eye on the female too. It might be nothing, but since they were together for a while, the other fish could have been affected as well.

    Emerse Echinodorus on balkony?!?

How do you grow them? Like bromeliads? As epiphytes?

    Emerse Echinodorus on balkony?!?

Hmm, okay. Thanks. This is a deal breaker, since I do not live in an area with particularly high humidity. Too bad.

    Emerse Echinodorus on balkony?!?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to get a few Echinodorus plants this summer and try growing them on my balcony—emerse, of course. Since my balcony faces south and can get quite windy at times, I was thinking of Argentinensis or Palifolius. Does anyone have experience with growing Echinodorus...

Finally found a store that had Apistogramma in stock!

I'm really glad to see that your fish is looking better than in the first picture, and I hope she makes it. However, Mac and Darrel do have a point. You should at least be aware that if the fish can't manage to avoid each other in your tank, you may only have saved the female for a short time...

    Sexing Macmasteri and its morph

Yes, absolutely what I meant. The fish looks rather thin to me. But this might be due to the picture. :)

    Sexing Macmasteri and its morph

If the fish in the second photo really is a male (looks like one, but as Mac said, bad conditioned) it might be the case that the female is trying to animate him to spawn. That sometimes does look like beeing bossy.
