I managed to get hold of A arua from Germany (Dr Romer) and bred them maybe 12-18 months ago. Spread a few to hobbyists within the UK but unfortunately they seem to have died a death as do the vast majority of the rarer fishes brought into the UK.
You certainly wont find these in the UK at the...
Well done Mike, did the start coincide with your SA trip.... I lost alot last year but have put it back on so i desperately need another month on the Peruvian starvation diet this October.
Mark....
From the pics i cant see anything wrong....
He looks just like the many specimens i have seen in my own tanks and at the exporters.
The red and pink facial colouration looks perfect to me.

Hi Dave,
Well im sure that if my I.adoketa made their way across the Atlantic to your tanks (Via Uwe of course) it should be much easier for us to meet up and hopefully send you home with a few rarities upon your departure back to the States....
Took the adoketa almost 9 days i...
Interesting....
Very interesting this Tom.
Your Non Mouthbrooding female/pair with the very large brood of approx 50 fry.
This female/pair of "Kelleri" are very unlike the many pairs of A.barlowi that i have worked with since 2005. A large brood of A.barlowi would most likely be split...
Rather unimpressed....
Well Mike after reading your recent information it leaves me feeling rather deflated about the reputation of possibly one of the most respected Apisto collectors in Peru who without doubt has discovered more new species in recent years than many i know. As you know he...
Yes nice write up again Tom.
The most rancid water/pool ive ever seen in my life....
We didnt get too close to this pool with the nets. Left this one to the experts who are far hardier than we Scandinavians/Europeans.
Whose that "Well Seasoned and Cultured Traveller"? Im struggling to find...
Looks a little like Apisto sp.Weibsaum/Whiteseam to me but im not 100% sure.
If they are we have had them in the UK as contaminants with D.filamentosa.

Hi Ola,
Yes all the species you have pictured are what we use in the UK.... With the Alder cones i pick up from the floor as well as from the tree, all are ok and i have had no problems at all. Excellent for your cory eggs too....
You can soak the alder cones to get the seeds off as...
Well Tom, Unfortunately i have to agree....
I too feel that the paper has nothing of value to offer whatsoever and to be honest i feel quite dissappointed.
From my quick observation of the paper,in translated pigeon English, the work has far too many silly mistakes and statements that i...
When Tom and i were in Iquitos last Oct just 1 single male specimen of the Rio Jutai cac/staecki type fish was brought over the border from Brazil by the collector.
There were however 100s of Kelleri brought over from Rio Jutai at the same time by the very same Peruvian fisherman/collector.I...
During our trip to Peru in October Tom and I decided to travel on an 11 day/1136km expedition along the Rio Ucayali and Rio Tapiche in search of a fish that had been collected by Peruvian fishermen and introduced into the hobby by Minoru Matsuzuka(Japan) in 2008.
Fortunately we were able to...
Yes Mike i agree that its very difficult, if not near impossible at times, to ID correctly from just a few pics of smallish sub-adult fish. It makes it even more difficult when looking at fish like those from the eunotus complex where diagnostic features between some species are very slight...
Why do you say they are not Nadelstreifen Mike?
The fish in question are F1s from the wild A.sp.Nadelstreifen that you actually collected on your trip.... Tom kindly gave me the parents upon his return from your trip.
