Hi all,
You don't need to, that is an incredibly small amount of ions, so they are both (dGH & dKH) less than one.
Conductivity is temperature dependent as well, higher temperatures cause increased electrical activity.
Likely.
That is it, it is a tiny addition of ions.

Hi all,
An advantage of a floating plant is that they always have access to atmospheric CO2 <"https://gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends/"> and they have <"relatively little structural tissue">, so that they can respond to changes in nutrient levels relatively quickly.
Pistia stratiotes ("Water...
Hi all,
It is not just a "pretty face" you can use it as indication of nutrient levels in your tank as well, have a look at: <"https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/what-is-the-“duckweed-index”-all-about.73647/">.
Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium (Hydrocharis) laevigatum) is actually my "Duckweed" of...
Hi all,
You should find it propagates pretty readily, there are images in @Tom C 's article: "Collecting in Pebas, Río Orosa and Río Shishita 2008" - <"https://www.tomc.no/page.aspx?PageId=64">.

Hi all,
Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) is biotope appropriate.
I think it depends on your sense of scale, I see the riverine and "flooded forest" trees as amphibious plants.
Cheers Darrel
Hi all,
I'm not trying to be funny, but that is a fraction of the plants you need. The more cover you have the happier the fish will be. They don't need to be planted plants, a lot of make use of floating plants.
cheers Darrel
Hi all,
Those are very low values, you basically have very few ions of any description. The actual ppm TDS value would be higher, but <"difficult to measure">.

Hi all,
I had mine in a 2' (60 cm) tank with Black-neon Tetra (H. herbertaxelrodi) that worked fine, but I keep <"very weedy"> tanks <"https://apistogramma.com/forum/threads/cory-and-apistogramma.21451/#post-100781">.
The only catfish I've had in the tanks with successfully breeding...
Hi all,
Not really.
That is a lot of fish.
The Ancistrus will be active at night and disturb your cichlids. The problem with the Corydoras spp. is really if your cichlids breed, but you may find problems with harassment even when they aren't breeding. Other bottom dwelling fish rarely go well...
Hi all,
Welcome to Apistogramma.com, this is going to sound a bit negative, but you obviously love your fish and this will save a lot of heart-ache in the longer term.
Can you re-home the T-bar Cichlids (Amatitlania sajica)? They aren't really suitable tank mates as they grow and the same...
Hi all,
I do this, but I don't buy structural leaf litter, I pick my own <"https://apistogramma.com/forum/threads/what-happens-to-ph-when-you-mix-ro-water-with-tap-water.24384/page-2#post-116219">.
Have a look at...
Hi all,
A lot of people use Repashy Foods.
Mine got a mixture of live food (Grindal worms, Black worms, Earth worms, Tadpole Snails (but you have to break the shell open for them) and some frozen (Prawns or Mysis shrimp). I supplemented this with pellets (I'd use Fluval Bugbites now) and some...
Hi all,
This is what PlanetCatfish says <"https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=1631">. I've grown out a couple of species, and they were very reclusive.
I'm not sure they are a good mix with Apistogramma spp...
Hi all,
I've kept Dicrossus spp. a few times, and I've never managed to keep the adults alive for very long.
They are fine when they are growing out, but I think they need very careful feeding when they are adult. I haven't got a large enough tank at the moment, but if I go back to (trying)...
Hi all,
You can, <"astaxanthin (carotenoid) enhances red coloration"> in Apistogramma spp. in the same way that it does for Salmon (Salmo salar) and Flamingo (Phoenicopteridae) spp.
Agreed.
cheers Darrel
Hi all,
They like a cave (like the female Apistogramma needs), <"they are active at night"> and disturb the sleeping cichlids, they will eat any eggs in the spawning cave after evicting the female.
cheers Darrel
Hi all,
He looks very dark in colour in the first photos, which is rarely a good sign in Apistogramma. How is he looking now?
Also the gravel substrate isn't ideal, Apistogramma will sand sift and gravel doesn't offer that opportunity, additionally food can fall into the crevices and...
They can, in very soft water a small decrease in CO2 levels will raise pH levels.
Probably not.
Just ignore what you read about dKH, pH or buffering, it is written by people who don't know what they are talking about.
Perfect.
