Tucanoichthys tucano viable option as tankmate for Apistogramma D12?

It is an interesting thing about fishes - i picked up some not too large Krobia xinguensis and qt them in a 120 with intention to moving them to my 600; but i had a small group of 8 cardinals in there - in less than an hour after getting the krobia i discovered they are all mouth and only had 2...

Is it low ph or lack of kh that causes 'low ph' bacteria to grow ?

Ok; thanks. The key point i'm trying to ask is ph relevant to anything or is it just a way of guess the carbonate (kh) hardness and should all tests ignore ph and focus on kh.

Is it low ph or lack of kh that causes 'low ph' bacteria to grow ?

I don't think you understand the question or maybe i don't understand the answer. I'm not worry about the bacteria forming and i don't really want to change the ph but it was more hypothetical - is it the water chemistry or the ph - it goes back to the old comment if i have water hardness enough...

Tucanoichthys tucano viable option as tankmate for Apistogramma D12?

I have something similar - Hyphessobrycon negodagua though i have no clue if the behavior is the same. These are closer to schooling then the other tetras I've mentioned and in the darker tank they are rather stunning and enjoyable to watch - as they have a bit of a funky swimming style...

Anomalochromis thomasi: good fit for me?

My understanding is he wanted fishes that would eat his endlers and while shell fishes are a great option for harder water i'm not sure they are very predatory in nature.

Is it low ph or lack of kh that causes 'low ph' bacteria to grow ?

I think this has probably be answered before but maybe not - is it the actual ph that triggers the type of bacteria that grows for nitrification or is it the water chemistry and lack of kh/ions that causes this change in bacteria. I.e, if i pump in a lot of co2 into 8.5 water i doubt it will...

Tucanoichthys tucano viable option as tankmate for Apistogramma D12?

So the thing to consider is if you are going to breed because some of these tetra are pretty good at hunting frys. Story on my group of p. simulans. I wanted 10 so i purchased 10 but after 2 days they all vanished - every last one - so i figured a bad batch so i got 5 more - and over the...

Tucanoichthys tucano viable option as tankmate for Apistogramma D12?

I have a bunch of tl they are small streamline but they hang mid-level to upper mid-level in my 18 inch tall aquarium. I suppose of the macs swim near the top they would be fair game I know my nijjensi have no problem using the aquarium full height as do several species i own but most of them...

    Apistogramma rositae

I suppose it is species specific but typically the females will bite my fingers and the males will run and hide.

    Species recommendations

Amatitlania nanolutea - i'm finding 3 to 4.5 inches for males - less for females. Won't comment on behavioral thing - or even if that is a dwarf cichild with regards to size - but it is small enough for a 40b i think and is smaller than a large a. kullanderi though we could argue about avg size...

    Hello fellow fish enthusiasts

Well if you have soft water and only obtaining a male pick what interest you - most will work without too much effort or special requirements (beyond the soft water). As to personality - for most you won't see much without a female but that will lead to breeding whether you want it or not.

    Species recommendations

Well - water is expensive in some parts of the world so you have to factor in the extra waste water esp if you do regular water changes.

    id request ?

You are correct - when the seller sent me the 2nd batch of pictures he sent them as all nadelstreifen but yea the ones with the reddish tails are bitaeniata i guess and yes i think those are decent looking fishes still the same problem exist with lack of space. I did actually think maybe they...

    id request ?

Do they have any unique behavior or low/high level of aggression ? Perhaps the picture are misleading but they look more colourful then a lot of common wc bitaeniata I've seen (though i know some bitaeniata can be quite colourful). Oh well mostly just curious i'd have to break both arms to...

    Hello fellow fish enthusiasts

I prefer wc because i find them more robust but you will want very pure soft water for them. A lot of people like tr because the colours are enhanced and can handle harder water (not hard water). rummynose are probably not the best candidate for breeding apisto also rummy should be in a 36 or 48...
