What am I? I am wild caught and have just come into the hobby alongside A.sp 'Cruzeiro' with the possibility of being collected together.

Apistogramma cacatuoides or something different?

I have to agree. Based on the continuous later band (no caudal spot), I would say that it is A. cacatuoides. Many of the A. sp. Cruzeiro now entering the commercial trade are coming through Puerto Maldonado, Peru. I don't know if they are being collected in Brazil or the upper Rio Juruá in extreme southeast Peru. The fish you show looks like some of the more blue color forms from around Pucallpa, Peru. Whatever it is, it isn't the typical form of A. cacatuoides.
