If stored in an air tight package: indefinite. Nothing happens to activated carbon until outside compounds come in contact with the pore space and "dangling ions".

i would add poor quality active carbon for me is nothing than scrap.

I agree completely. If it is shiny, it is worthless. I was once tempted to keep a broken 100 pound bag of carbon that was being disposed of at a site I was cleaning up. It was super grade - the best possibe. But since it was a Superfund site:frown:, I decided to let it lie.
