Hi all,
Is there a preferred test kit for total hardness. Thanks Dee
Most tests for hardness (both dGH and dKH) actually test for alkalinity and then make the assumption that most of that hardness comes from limestone (CaCO3). It is usually a fair assumption.

The <"titrimetric kits"> (ones where you drip the reagent into water sample and look for a colour change) are likely to be more accurate than the test sticks, but test sticks will give you a "Ball park" figure.

In Europe (and the UK) you can get water hardness figures from your water supplier, not sure about in the USA.

Have a look at <"advice please"> as well.

cheers Darrel
