    Sick Apisto borelli

Well, I guess it's too late. My male seems like he is going to die. He is not moving, and barely is barely breathing. He was only 1 1/2 years old, does anyone have any suggestions as to why he may have died? I would like to avoid this in the future.

    Sick Apisto borelli

Hello all, I have a pair of borelli in a ten gallon with 3 pristella tetras and 1 oto. The tank is heavily planted and has been established for years. About a month ago, my male borelli started to act strange. He always rests on his belly and does not seem to have much of a swim bladder...

    Low-Tech Appisto home

I agree, the borelli's will have a nice home in your natural tank. You have done a good job at simulating a natural environment. I keep a pair in a ten gallon with 3 pristella tetras and 1 otocinclus. They have plenty of room, so your tank should give your male more room to hide from the female...

    Laetacara "Orangeflossen"

Beautiful fish!! I haven't heard much about this species. I recently bought a couple curviceps and have fallen in love with the laetacara genus! Congrats on your pair, and good luck!

    36"X18"X21" Stocking Suggestions

Hello Everyone! My girlfriend recently lost some 13 year old abramites and now here tank is relatively empty. It is currently occupied by 1 cory cat and 4 bolivian rams. I am curious as to what we could potentially add to this setup. I know I want to add at least 4 more cory cats, and...

    L. curviceps illness?

The marks seem to run along its lateral line. I think it must be ok, because the fish is acting quite normal again. The only reason it worried me is because two of the curviceps died, and this one seemed to be acting reclusive. Thanks for your help everyone!:)

    L. curviceps illness?

Thanks a lot for the reply!! I think the fish is starting to do a little better. It seems to be returning to its normal behavior. I have done more frequent water changes since I first noticed the legions. The fish on the right of this website has similar markings...

The curviceps seems to interacting a little bit more in the past couple of days. Anything I can do to kill off the last of the dots? Should I raise temp? Should I add salt?

    L. curviceps illness?

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure it is black spot. The fish I just received, are not from the wild. Two of the curviceps that had this died. Is black spot pretty much harmless? If this is the case than why the two deaths? Also, the spots seem more brownish than black. Does this mean...

    L. curviceps illness?

I have recently obtained 4 curviceps and 2 of them died off fairly early on. I thought this may have been due to competition for food and agression. But recently I noticed these small brownish black dots on the original curviceps. Since I noticed the dots, the fish has been acting a little more...

    L. curviceps aggression

Well, this week the two sub-dominant curviceps died. I don't know if this is because they weren't gettin food or because they had some sort of illness. They basically both turned really dark in color with heavy breathing and then died. The weird thing is, both of my other curviceps are fine and...

    beginner Apisto advice

Some good plants to put in are java fern, java moss (for possible fry), and crypts. I keep these in my 10 gallon with a pair of apisto borelli, 3 pristella tetras, and an oto. These plants do good in a shallow tank and are slow growing. You can get some really nice colors with crypts to add some...

    L. curviceps aggression

Cool, I am hoping for a pair up soon. There seem to be two that are now the scapegoats and I want to get them out soon to a bigger tank. The first one is still the dominator. I still have strong feelings that it is female, and possibly the other non-scapegoat is her chosen one. I will closely...
