I used the Stability in addition to using all used filter media and hardscape transferred over. I knew that all had the bacteria I needed but wanted to be extra cautious that there was ENOUGH bacteria for the larger tank right away.
Since the fish was clearly not thriving the whole time, my...
My local tap I know is relatively soft already, I just don't know the parameters exactly.
I know Gourami are very hardy. But what about the Neo shrimp, Ramshorn Snail, Ember Tetras and Pygmy Cory? Wouldn't they have been more sensitive to this potential spike as well? Especially the shrimp...
Nope. It's a sponge made for aquariums that has never been in contact with anything but the tank.
The other thing I was just thinking about was that maybe because it was a new tank and hadn't seasoned caused issue. The nitrogen cycle was established due to used media but otherwise it was all...
Unfortunately, he has passed away. The last few days he was very reclusive and I barely saw him. When I did see him he was so deeply striped that he looked almost pure black in the shadows he was lurking in save for his face which had his speckles and very bright red cheeks.

Having grown up on a ranch, I can very much understand that analogy haha. Makes sense to me.
I believe I have broken up the tank a decent amount to create good breaks in sight. And I just added more plants to create more interest in the more open spaces. He also has multiple cavelike...

If my fish is doing all of...

I added more plants with a...
Hmmm okay. I’ll definitely consider this. Because they ignore each other I didn’t think they could be bothering him but I suppose just their presence could be causing him to feel uncomfortable.
Thank you for touching on each of these subjects!
So considering everything you’ve said, is there any action you’d suggest taking for my fish? I would love to have his blue come back if possible but it sounds like he isn’t actually as stressed as I thought which is a relief.
I’ll be adding...
It was clearer. But still had some tannins to it and slightly tinted. Maybe I'll do more frequent water changes to help the driftwood tannins clear faster since it is leeching a lot it. That can't hurt at least right?
Thank you for all your input. I appreciate you taking the time.
No I don't think I got that information from here, but I don't recall where I first heard it. I will do a bit more digging into that specifically to verify. I will feel a bit silly if I made all the fuss when really he was perfectly content haha.
However, it would be really nice to figure out...
