    Wasting disease ?

Thanks Mike, I didn't even get a chance to look at the prices to be honest in the end because she was so poorly yesterday that I had to put her down. Paper thin, barely swimming at the surface resting on the filter and all dark almost black. I assume it had to be something internal as she was...

    Wasting disease ?

Thank you, I just tried with bloodworms and she is not interested. Actually today she doesn't seem interested into foraging anymore just resting on the bottom or hiding. Whatever she's got, it has completely killed her appetite. I wish I would know what it is so I could at least attempt to help...

    Wasting disease ?

I gave daphnia and bbs, daphnia was all I managed to get hold of at a local pet store. She's about 8 months, never had her refusing food, male sometimes refuses the usual food so I alternate but she was ok until now. I tried frozen mosquito larvae but no she doesnt even go near them.

    Wasting disease ?

Jumping on this thread, are there any signs other than the fish getting skinnier to look for in wasting disease? My cacatuoides female is refusing to eat anything I give her at the moment, I tried live/frozen/gel/pellets/flakes and nothing. For the last week I have not seen her eating...

Sudden extreme aggression in male Cacatuoides

That's my plan as well as I can't keep the poor dude too long into this 25L tank that he's in now anyway. Luckily my female didn't suffer any damage as she hid in an ornament in which he does not fit but I think she would have starved to death in there as she was not coming out at all.

Sudden extreme aggression in male Cacatuoides

Thank you Mike really appreciate the advice. I have evicted him into the other tank and she came out and ate with the fry. Strange I didnt expect him to turn on her before turning on the fry but he allowed them around but not her. Hopefully in 2 weeks he'll be calmer and I can put him back.

Sudden extreme aggression in male Cacatuoides

Hi all, Turns out my male A.Cacatuoides has decided in the past 48 hrs that his biggest enemy in the tank is his female partner. They have some fry with them, about 3.5 weeks old which both parents started to ignore in the past week. I saw the parents tail flicking a few days ago in the morning...

    Sick cory?

And you're right Mike has so much experience I read some of his older reply posts and they're academic level. I am so impressed actually by the quality of the information shared on this forum even though its not the busiest it's just conistently good advice and tons of patience with newbies like...

    Sick cory?

Hi Darrel, thank you very much I'm going to look for Apistomaster's experiences on Planet Catfish I didnt even knew about that forum. I was really not expecting the cory to be pregnant as I've had them for a while now and they never shown any signs and with a Ph of 7.8 and a GH of 16 I was...

    Ammonia burns?

Hi all, So yesterday morning I woke up to a pretty big ammonia spike in the tank. Needless to say the 2 week old fry from about 60 they have been reduced to about 10 and I am not surprised. I overfed and turns out my filter which is relatively new (4 months) and was rated quite highly as...

How much BBS is too much for fry?

I fed yesterday 0.5ml of bbs with a dropper, picked up most of the "orange" bits from the bbs dish mixed then with aquarium water and squeezed them where the fry where. Turns out they were mostly dead bbs and they went all over the sand, this morning I had an ammonia spike(1ppm) and about 20 fry...

    Sick cory?

I could potentially do that as I'm setting a new tank for apistogramma fry for when they're out from the parents tank...I have 4-5 weeks until I plan to get the fry out so that could do if I can keep the eggs in a tank thats in a cycling process? Thanks Ben Rhau I joined the group and if I...

    Sick cory?

okay it seems like @Mike Wise was right, the little lady is full of eggs as her eyes have turned black and she still has a belly. I didn't have the heart to put her in quarantine tank as I found in the past these tiny corys to get terrified when not with their own and not move much. Tomorrow...

Cacatuoides fry alert - please advise

Is it necessary for me to have a light? I am thinking to get a simple aquarium cube and I have a corner in the kitchen on the counter where I could place it without being intruding. The kitchen has the sun on it up until about 2pm and then we have some led's running around the counter. Led light...
