I for one would like to know who developed this fish and bred it for this particular trait. The origins of any "new" (I use this term loosely) are important to the hobby, If it was an anomally found in a large population in the wild, I think it would be interesting to find out.

A question if I may, Are you actively persuing the source of these fish?
It would be nice to know who and where they came from, wouldn't you agree?
Is it common for the parents to fight over who shall care for the fry?
This is the second spawn, I believe with the first successful spawn the parents may have eaten the fry, or some cherry barbs (since removed) had their share of sushi.
After the fry had hatched, the mother protected them...
A number of Geophagus species are available in Australia. I have yet to see the particular species.
The Geophagines are actually not an allowable import here. It's possible they have come in via the "black market" but if they are a rarer fish, then I doubt they are here.
